"Go on, Cole. Just cry it all out." Serena softly cooed at the sobbing male, gently caressing his back to comfort him. Harry poured another glass of whiskey and slid it over to Cole, which resulted to Serena throwing him a warning glare. "Babe, he needs this." Harry replies, Serena shook her head. "No, he does not."
"I just wanna drink." Cole mutters out, his words slightly slurred after a few shots. The alcohol was visibly kicking in already, Harry stared at Serena as if to tell her 'I told you so' but Serena remained firm about her decision to not let him drink any more alcohol. "Just because he wants to doesn't mean he needs it." She explains, rubbing Cole's hair carefully.
Harry wasn't expecting to spend the night comforting a man who just had a breakup. He thought of this night as a night when he can cuddle with Serena, maybe watch some movies and eat KFC while at it. But then again, he isn't that selfish to actually ask Serena to stop attending to her friend and give him some attention.
"Why did she leave me?" Cole asks weakly, his head was hugged by Serena as she whispered comforting words to his hair. It was sad seeing Cole in that state, he looked so out of it. He definitely was hurt by what happened, understandably so.
Harry sighs. "I know we haven't really met properly before." He continues. "But basing from what Serena has been telling me about you, I think you're an amazing person, you're kind and you deserve a lot of good things. I believe this happened for a reason, mate. Maybe this was supposed to happen, even though it's painful to accept, maybe it's something that should happen in order for you to fully appreciate the better things in life that are coming your way."
There was a brief silence, Harry's words made Cole think. He has been through several breakups over the years, some even being public due to his job, he always finds himself being a complete and total mess every time it happens. Maybe what Harry's saying is true, aside from the painful splits, he was pretty much blessed. He had all the things most people could only wish they had, and he was grateful for it. Maybe this was just another setback, a message to tell him it's not the relationship he would be in for the rest of his life.
Cole's sniffs became a bit softer, a wave of relief washing upon Serena. She was worried about him since he's been crying for an hour straight, Cole doesn't cry a lot, that's why it worried her a lot more. She was thankful, once again, that Harry was there.
"Sleepy?" She asks, Cole hesitantly nodded. His tears and the alcohol only contributed more to him feeling a bit woozy, and Serena figured that it was time for him to sleep. "Let's get you to the room." Harry assisted the drunken male on standing up as they led him to the spare room Serena had in her apartment.
As soon as they laid Cole there, only a few seconds passed before they heard loud snoring. Serena places a bucket beside the bed just in case Cole wakes up and feels the need to throw up.
The two of them slowly walked out into the hall and quietly closes the door to Cole's room. Harry and Serena stared at each other and sighed. It was a long night, Harry places his arm over her shoulder and kisses her hair lovingly. "You okay?"
She nods. "Yeah, just a bit worried. But he's strong, I'm sure he'll be okay soon." She reassuringly mumbles out, more to herself, hoping that Cole feels better soon. "I'm sure he will. He's a tough guy." Harry agrees.
They both walked to Serena's room and laid on the bed, smiles drawn on their lips as they enjoyed each other's warmth.
"I don't know if it's the time to ask since I have a ridiculously bad sense of timing." Harry nervously started off, his fingers fiddling with hers as he tried to avoid her gaze. "But my niece's birthday is coming up, and I know this is a very demanding request, but can you come with me to London and dress up as Evie?" He said all of that in one breath, he really was nervous and it showed.
Serena chuckles. "Why are you so nervous? I told you, I'll be Evie anytime for them. Of course, I'll come." Her answer made Harry happily grin and press his lips on hers. "You're the best, do you know that?"
A breathy laugh escapes her plump lips as she kissed him again. "I could say the same to you, Mr. Styles." Harry pulled her into his arms closer, his head was resting on top of Serena's. She fit perfectly in his arms, and the thought alone made him giddy on the insides.
"I love you." He whispers. She smiles and leans closer to his chest. "I love you too."
