It was a Tuesday and this day marks her seventh month, and as expected, she was not having it easy. She has to stay seated or laid on the bed after a few minutes of standing and walking and she can't really do anything.
Harry, on the other hand, was out for the day to fetch some groceries for the house. The two of them have been pretty much locked up inside and they never got the chance to fill up their shelves with enough food.
As much as Harry hated leaving Serena alone, she reassured him she will be fine. He likes to believe she will be, so he decided not to call up any of their friends. He just made her promise to call him whenever something happens, he'll drive back home in a flash.
While he was gone, Serena decided to lay in the couch and watch some movies on Netflix. Her eyes automatically panned to The Notebook but decided not to watch it until Harry goes home. Eventually, after scrolling through the variety of movies, she chose to watch Mean Girls.
She has no idea how may times she watched the film, probably more than ten times, but it's such a classic. The movie never stopped being entertaining for her, she's almost certain she had most lines memorized at this point.
The cafeteria scene played on the screen as she awaited for the first ever interaction between The Plastics and Cady. She felt excitement creep up on her skin as she prepared herself to chant along the lines.
That was until she heard something crash from the backdoor. She almost jumped up as she placed her hand on her tummy, as if to protect it. She stayed quiet, the television was the only thing making noises now, but she can't stay still.
She quickly grabbed her phone and rushed to her room, a sudden pang of discomfort shooting to her back but she knew better than to complain this time. Once she was inside, she locked the door shut.
She can't stop her heart from beating too fast, she was scared. That noise might have been a cat or a dog accidentally bumping down one of the pots but it was better to be safe than sorry.
Her fingers nervously clicked on her phone as the ringing began, of course, Harry picked up almost instantly.
"Baby, is everything okay?" Harry's voice was laced with worry, he knows something was up. "Harry, I think someone's on the back door." Harry felt his blood run cold, he finds himself mindlessly running to his car and starting it up. His head was ringing as he felt fear and adrenaline pumping to his veins. "Where are you now?"
Serena whispers. "I locked myself in my room." That made Harry feel a little bit of relief, knowing Serena acted fast enough. "Stay there, okay? Don't end the call, I'm speeding, I'm just a few minutes away." He tried his best to sound calm, he knows that panicking wouldn't be good for him nor Serena. He didn't want to rattle her even more than she already feels.
The line went quiet and Harry felt nervous. "Baby, still there?" He asks, he hears her hum. "Yeah, still here. Where are you?" He drifts in front of the house and rushed inside. "Here."
He sees the television still on, Mean Girls was playing and other than that, the house was dark and silent. He runs to their bedroom and calls out. "Baby? I'm here. You're okay." Serena hurriedly opens the door and hugs him tightly. She forgot about her discomfort for a moment as she embraced him like her life depended on it.
"Are you okay?" She nods at his question and kept her head buried on his chest. He sighs in relief, gently rubbing her back while placing soft kisses on the top of her head to calm her down. "I'll take a look outside, okay? Stay here and hold your phone." He mumbles.
"Be careful, Harry, please." He was terrified, definitely, but if his family's safety is on the line, this was something he was more than willing to do. He takes the stun gun he stored in one of the kitchen drawers as he slowly but silently walked through the back door.
And Serena was right, there was definitely someone who crashed their garden. Some pots were broken as if someone threw rocks on them, and it only took a few minutes before Harry pieced everything together.
On the side of his eye, he sees a small flash in the middle of the darkness. There were paparazzis around their property. He immediately took out his phone and called the police department.
He's going to do everything to keep her and the babies safe.
