I slammed the door behind me as I entered the house and pressed my back to the door. I was still panting from running all the way home.

“Ash, you ok?” My mother walked in from the living room.

“Yeah I’m fine.”

“Are you sure? Did you run all the way home? You’re all sweaty.”

“Um, yeah. I’ve decided to get in shape.”

“At eleven o’clock at night?” My mom was doubtful.

“Yup.”

“You’re a strange kid, you know that right?”

“Yup.” I walked up to my room, thankful that she didn’t ask any more questions. I’m not exactly the best liar. I plopped onto my bed and tried to fathom what just happened in the alley. It must have been some kind of joke. They could have just gotten red contacts and fake teeth or something. But it doesn’t explain how they managed to escape in the blink of an eye. I decided to call Calum. He might be able to help me, or convince me that its all just a joke so I can get over it and go to bed.

“What?” Calum sounded tired. “I was getting ready to go to bed.”

I started to tell him but then I stopped myself. What if he thinks I’m crazy? I don’t even know what I saw.

“I just wanted to say that you’re a really good friend Calum…”

“Thanks Ash, you too I guess.”

“You guess!?” I acted all offended.

“Oh please, you know what I meant, I’m just tired.”

“Ok, goodnight Jerk.”

“Night B*tch.” He hung up.

I went to my computer and opened up google. I searched Vampire and clicked on the first tab I saw.

I went to school on Monday with butterflies in my stomach. But not the stage fright kind or the the running into your crush kind, this was the nervous, scared kind of butterflies in your stomach. When Luke said that he would see me on Monday, I just assumed he meant school. I mean where else would he be? Stalking me in my room while I sleep like Edward freaking Cullen? I don’t think so.

When I walked into the school I almost expected Luke to be right there when I opened the door but that’s unrealistic. I went to my first class as usual, World History 1. Mr. Goldfellow was late to class as always. Once he was more than 15 minutes late and we got to leave the classroom, that’s actually a law. Despite his tardiness, he’s the best teacher ever. He’s the kind that likes everyone and makes learning fun. Well not fun, more like less boring. He’s got this long stick that he waves around as he lectures us, I’m surprised he hasn’t knocked out a student with it yet.

I sat down at one of the desks, I usually sat near the middle of the classroom, separate from the pot smokers in the back and the brainiacs in the front. Right in the middle. I didn’t have Calum in this class, so I just sat with whoever sat next to me. If anyone even sat next to me… but today someone did. A girl with lilac purple hair came and sat next to me. Her hair was different but it strangely suited her. It matched her eyes. She wore black ripped jeans, an All Time Low band tee, checkered suspenders that hung from her jeans, and black combat boots. As she sat down she gave me the biggest smile.

“Hi, I’m Sabrina, some of my friends call me Saby.”

“YOU CAN’T CHOOSE YOUR OWN NICKNAME!” A voice yelled from across the room.
