After Luke left, I stepped into the house with a smile. But it was soon replaced with a frown when I realized my mom would be furious. As on cue…

“Ashton where the hell have you been? You can’t just take off on me like that! I mean, at least answer your phone so I know that you’re not dead in some ditch!”

“I know mum, I’m sorry.”

“You never answered my question.”

“Which one?”

“Where were you?!”

“Oh. I was with a friend.”

“Well why didn’t you just say you were with Calum?”

“Because I wasn’t with Calum…”

“You have other friends?”

“Oh shut up mum!”

“Okay, but seriously, who?”

“His name is Luke.”

“Oh well invite him over sometime, I’d like to meet this guy that you spent the night with…”

“Oh mum it wasn’t like that! ew…”

I started to leave before my mom interrupted me.

“By the way, you’re grounded.”

There was no point in arguing with her, I just groaned and walked up the stairs to my bedroom.

I started pulling off my jacket and then I remembered I was still wearing Lukes jacket and clothes. I had also left my clothes at his house. I groaned when I realized I left my favorite band tee at his house. I decided that I would have to return it at school or the next time we met. I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket.

Unknown number: Hey, return my coat when I see you at school ;-)

Me: Okay. but how did you know I was just thinking of that??? Can you read minds too?

Luke: hmm lets test it out sometime :P

Me: Oh yeah?

Luke: I have an idea…

Me: which is…

Luke: A date.

Me: A date?

Luke: Yeah.

Me: With?

Luke: You!

Luke: So?

Me: Why?

Luke: Because I like you

Me: Why?

Luke: Oh Ashton don’t be difficult.

Me: Difficult is my middle name

Luke: I’ve realized that by now aha

Me: I’ll think about it…

Luke: Ooh playing hard to get I see ;-)

Me: Yup ;)

Luke and I ended up texting most of the night until I had to go to bed because we had school the next day. I think I was really starting to like him but there’s so much about him I don’t know.

I walked to school the next day, Lukes coat draped over my arm. Just before I entered the school building, I was stopped by a hand grabbing my arm.

“What the hell do you think you’re doing with Lukes coat?” Michael sneered.

“R- returning it.”

“You shouldn't have even had it in the first place. You need to stop seeing Luke.” Michael said with a determined attitude. For the first time ever talking to Michael, I felt some sort of bravery. Call it an adrenaline rush, I don’t know.

“You can’t stop me from seeing Luke!” I practically yelled. “You’re not the freaking boss of him. Anyways, what are you going to do to me? You can’t kill me and you know it.” I smirked.

Michael grabbed me by the collar and whispered. “That’s true, but I can do way worse things to you that would make you wish you were dead.” He flashed his teeth and eyes so fast you might not have seen it but I did.

“Luke wouldn’t let that happen.”

“Honey, you don’t know him or the things he’s done.” Michael dropped me and I stumbled a bit. He grabbed Luke’s coat and walked off with a sort of confidence to his gait. This time Luke hadn’t been here to save me.
