Costa Rica—it’s a place that dwells with beauty. Its superior grace is especially graceful on this day, July 2nd.
The crew and I decided to all take a week and a half off of work, get our kids, and take a vacation. But not just any vacation, a tropical, fun filled, vacation. We all agreed on Costa Rica and here we are!
Jay, Ray, Chres, Craig, Myles, the twins, Savannah, Fatou, Jazmyn, Cachee’lyn, Nala, Sophie, Twist, and Abilene's boy toy, Justin, are all out here enjoying the beautiful scenery. Yes, it's a lot of us, but what’s a vacation without the whole crew?!
We’re all staying in a luxury resort called Tabacon. It’s mostly a spa and when I say it’s beautiful, I mean it! No exaggeration involved! Its resort is in a tropical forest. Waterfalls fall all over the resort and the trees stand tall as a beautiful, dark green color.
We’ve rented a brown, cabin like house that sits in front of a small personal pool just outside the forest. Pine trees surround the house and although it looks small from the outside, everything on the inside is huge. There are ten bedrooms and a bathroom in inside of it. Jay and I of course shared a room, along with Ray & Lyn, Fat Fat &
Chres, Sophie & Nala, Twist & Abril, Abilene & Justin, Myles, and finally, Savannah.
You could even say that each room was a master bedroom because everything was just that beautiful. Even though there was a creamy brown color scheme, nothing seemed bland.
The outside of the house, the side that faces the pool, has a big window, exposing the living room that is set up with a flat screen TV and enough couches for all of us. Outside of the house are tan columns. There’s a small white table and white tanning chairs with house plants surrounding the pool.
The girls’ room looks like a small camp cabin. There’s a king sized bed for the girls to stay and a white couch with blue & brown pillows to accompany it. A small canopy hovers over the girls’ bed and there’s a small ledge for them to sit on along with a dresser. This room was completely made out of sanded, smooth and tanned, wood.
Jacob and I’s room is on the top floor and our room stands out the most. There’s this small passage way that leads to the top of the house and on top of the house is a small canopy bed that gives off an amazing view of the rest of the resort.
The guys are out doing guy things, meanwhile, us girls are sitting by the pool, taking in some of the fresh, early July air. All of the other girls are playing in the pool while I sit on the side wearing a pink, long, flowed skirt and a tight, cupping black, gold incrusted top. The water is very inviting, but I’d much rather sit and read my magazines.
We’ve been in Costa Rica for five days already and every day I feel like I just got here because Jacob always surprised with something new. The first night, I was surprised with a candle light dinner outside of the pool. The second and third night I went on a shopping spree. The fourth night, Jacob and I spent the whole day together doing everything I wanted to do and yesterday, we went into the city to go to a music festival.
This vacation is my antidote for the stress of being an editor. Don’t get me wrong, I love my job. But juggling that, singing gigs, and taking Nala to dance and karate, I am exhausted. Jacob helps out a lot, he cooks and cleans when I’m too tired, but we all feel like sometimes we need a little bit more.
Yes, I sing again, but only for fun. Diggy dragged me to an open mic and I actually liked it. It’s every Wednesday at the Blue Star café, right in the hearth of NY. Sometimes I sing and sometimes I read of poems that I wrote that week at week.
