28.) Superstar

My adrenalin is pumping as I sprint down the field with the ball. We're up 7 to 2 in the final minutes of the game. I break back through midfield and quickly look for Lee my other forward. I see him over in the right lane so I make my way into the goal lane, pivot and pass to him quickly.

He receives the ball successfully and I double my speed to get deeper into their defensive zone and right in time. Lee punts the ball back at me leaving the goal wide open. I throw my left leg up as I jump into the air and in one quick movement my right leg makes contact with the ball as I turn and swing in the air.

The crown erupts into chaos as I hit the ground and see the ball sail past the goalkeeper. GOAL! The referee blows his whistle three times and waves his hands. We won! I pop up to my feet just in time too. Lee is sprinting towards me for his usual chest-bump celebration after a good play.

Game over and we won, 8 to 2. I grin and cheer loudly as we bump chests and soon the whole team is around us cheering and screaming. I can hear Hana in the crowd screaming my name excitedly and I almost want to hide, but I know she's only trying to make up for mom having to work tonight.

We make our way back to the bench and Coach Guy. "Beautiful teamwork men!" He cheers and gives Lee and me a high five. "Good work all of you. I expect that you will stick around and cheer on the varsity team."

We brake and everyone scatters into the stands and off to the locker room. I look up into the bleachers looking for anyone I know. There at the top, I see Gaara, Sai, and Choji cheering up a storm with a semi excited Gaara and an even less enthused Shikamaru. They have taken their shirts off and written FIGHT amongst them. Lucky bastards!

I make my way up to them and realize that Hana, Konan, and her boyfriend are there in the row in front of my crazy friends along with Hinata and Sakura. Wow my own cheer section, how flattering. I raise my hands above my head with rock signs as I approach and they all cheer.

"Damn Kiba that was impressive!" Hana says jumping to her feet and giving me a huge hug. "Oh eww! You should change." She says instantly letting me go and wrinkling her nose at me.

I shake my hair at her, spraying her with sweat. "This is what victory looks like." I laugh and go and sit down on the far end next to Sakura. She changed into jeans but thankfully is still wearing my 06 jersey. She really does look good in it.

She hands me a water bottle with a smile that I really hope is real. "Here you should probably drink this." She says softly.

I take a long drink. "God that tastes good." I groan and drain the rest of the water bottle easily. "Thanks for that." I grin over at Sakura and nudge her with my shoulder.

She rolls her eyes and chuckles as she nudges me back. "No problem superstar." She teases me.

I roll my eyes this time. "Yeah right. Lee is way better than I am." I scoff playfully. Truth is if it weren't for Lee and all his setups I would never be able to do what I do.

"No, it's true," Hinata says from the other side of Sakura. "Everyone is calling you the first year superstar." She smiles at me warmly.

I shrug at the thought. I'm no superstar, that's for sure. I just love the game, and love to play it that's all. Sakura passes me another water bottle and I sip this one waiting for the varsity game to start. This is the game everyone has come to see, the one that is going to be epic.
