40.) A Team

Dinner was more entertaining than I thought it was going to be. First Hanabi insisted that she had to sit next to Kiba, which was its own type of entertainment in its self. Between Kiba trying to sound interested in Hanabi, Hana scolding Kiba for being rude, Konan telling Hana to calm down, and the rest of us watching on it really wasn't that bad. Hinata's family was always so relaxed and it was nice. Both Hinata's father and Neji's father joined in on teasing Kiba about Hanabi, which made the night absolutely worth driving the four hours.

Once dinner was over Hinata and I volunteered to clean up while the adults took over the pool room and the rest of us kids decided on a movie.

"I sure hope that Kiba doesn't pick some gross gore movie." Hinata muses as she takes the last washed plate from my hand and begins to dry it.

I laugh. "I don't think Hana would let him." I point out, pulling the plug on the sink and letting it drain before drying my hands. I survey the kitchen to make sure that nothing was missed and my eyes land on Kiba leaning against the door frame watching me.

He smiles a wolfish smile. "You're right, Hana refused so we are watching some horrible chick flick." He says pushing off the frame and making his way over to Hinata and I. "I am here for popcorn and something to drink."

I roll my eyes at him. "You just ate, why would you want popcorn?" I ask in a teasing tone.

Kiba sighs. "Hanabi sent me..." He grumbles.

I laugh lightly. "Awww get over yourself Kiba." I say opening a cupboard and pulling out a large pitcher. "You can go tell her that we will bring it in a few." I tell him over my shoulder.

Kiba groans. "Why cant you go tell her?" He whines.

This time Hinata laughs and rolls her eyes. "I will go tell her, but you are in charge of popcorn." She says leaving the two of us alone in the kitchen.

For some reason Kiba's words from earlier, try me, echo in my head and my stomach knots itself. Kiba smiles over at me before looking around the kitchen. "Soooo where is the popcorn?" He asks.

I roll my eyes at him and point him over to the cupboard that holds the snack foods for the house. In no time Kiba has a large bowl filled with buttery popcorn and I have mixed up some Kool-aid and gathered some plastic cups.

"We sure make a great team." Kiba grins at me as we walk to the den with our things.

I smile and nod. I guess I'm not the only one who has started to think that, but I don't know if he means it the same way I do when I think about it. I guess time will only tell what all this is, but I'm sure that we have all the time in the world. "Yea, we sure do don't we?" I respond with a warm smile.
