11.) Something is Not Right

I sit in Jiraiya's classroom and impatiently wait for Sakura to come. Hinata has said that she was going to figure out where Sakura was and I believe her. Hinata always keeps her word, just like I do.

With a sigh of relief I finally see Sakura enter the classroom and make her way over to me. She doesn't look well. "Morning Sakura." I grin as she sits down in her seat.

She smiles a smile that doesn't reach her eyes. "Hey Naruto." She says quietly.

"Where were you this morning, Sasuke and I were worried about you." I say casually leaning back in my seat and folding my arms behind my head, trying not to sound as concerned as I really am feeling.

Sakura pauses and then pretends to chuckle. "I must have had some bad food this morning." She says digging through her bag for her class things, hiding her face with her hair.

I can tell she's lying but don't press the issue. I know that she has her reasons, but it still hurts that she won't tell me.

The bell rings and Jiraiya starts to lecture the class about cheating on the test..."Whaaaat!" I call out in horror. "There's a test?!"

"It's the mid-term." Sakura whispers to me. "I reminded you on Friday."

I let my head fall to my desk with a loud thud. Ouch. "Oh man..." I groan quietly. I had been so busy with soccer practice that I had spaced the test day today. Though that did explain why the woods teacher was so angry with me when I didn't have my box made.

"You didn't study did you Naruto?" Sakura asks.

I almost don't hear Sakura's question. I'm too busy beating the shit out of myself in my head. I tilt my head to look at her and grin weakly. "Eh, don't worry bout me. I'll get by somehow." I say. I just hope that I'm telling the truth.

After Sakura reminded me of mid-terms, I went into the pre-algebra test painfully aware I was destined to fail. No mater. Not that I didn't expect to fail that class from the start.

I sit in homeroom watching Sakura from my seat next to her. After she missed morning homeroom she has been weird. Hinata had said that she had gotten sick, so I guess the bit about eating bad food wasn't a lie. But she looks like she's in a daze. What's more is she hasn't spoken to Sasuke at all today.

Sasuke looks over at me and raises an eye brow. "What are you sulking about?" He asks. Before I could respond though he rolls his eyes at me. "You forgot about mid-terms didn't you?"

I heave a loud sigh. "Don't remind me, there are still four to go." I groan in dismay. The one I was really dreading was last hour, with Mr. Youth. Yea that's what we were calling him now. He rambled a lot about the power of youth, blah blah, blah, I never listened to what he was saying.

Sasuke shakes his head at me, in the disapproving way that he always does. "Saw that one coming." He muttered.

I ignore him. I have a feeling that he did something to Sakura, but I have no idea what. Through our whole conversation Sakura has just been hunched over her desk, face buried in her arms.

The bell rings and I watch Sasuke get up from his seat. I don't feel like moving, I'm too depressed about the tests coming.

"How bout we go off campus and grab some ramen?" Sasuke asks shoving his hands into his pockets.

Mmmmm ramen. I grin, immediately forgetting that I have four more test I'm going to fail today. He knows me way to well. "Sounds amazing!" I cheer shooting out of my seat and out of the classroom.

I watch impatiently as Sasuke leans down and kisses the top of Sakura's head and whispers something to her. Maybe my assumption was wrong, they seem fine now.
