The trap is set, and what's so perfect about it is that both Neji's parents and Hinata's parents know that we are waging war on them and are okay with it! As long as we clean up any mess that we make. The best part is that we have insider intelligence from none other than Hanabi. I pulled some stings and she agreed to be our inside informant and spy on the girls for us.
We now wait in the kitchen, Neji listening for the girls to leave the bedroom and head to the bathroom. Thanks to Hanabi we know that they will need the bathroom to use some sort of body scrub. So we have set a trap that they for sure will walk right into, courtesy of Shikamaru.
"Do you really think your contraption will succeed?" Lee asks Shikamaru quietly from our hiding spot in the kitchen.
Shikamaru shrugs. "In theory it should work out just fine." He responds in his bored tone as he watches Neji, waiting for the signal.
"Well in theory could you explain it one more time to me?" I ask him because even after the second explanation I still don't quite understand what is going on.
Shikamaru sighs. "Try to pay attention this time please. The girls have to go to the bathroom to use their body scrub right? Well we have reversed the door knob so that once they are in there and shut the door, we can lock them in." Shikamaru says quietly.
I nod. "Okay and this is the plan of a genius how?" I ask slightly annoyed because this is the stupidest plan I have ever heard.
"It is so simple that it is genius in itself." Lee says quietly from beside me. "We have an end goal that must be achieved and for that, little insignificant things must happen first."
Shikamaru nods in agreement. "See he gets it." He mumbles before nudging me and pointing to Neji who is motioning for us to proceed forward.
We slowly sneak over to where Neji is stationed and peek around the corner, just in time to see an unfamiliar blonde enter the bathroom and shut the door.
"That must be Temari." I muse quietly out loud.
Shikamaru hums in agreement and with a forward motion of his hand we proceed forward until we are right at the door. I reach out and quietly lock the door with a smile. Step one lock the door complete.
We sneak back down the hall and find Hanabi waiting there for us. "Is it my turn?" She whispers quietly.
Shikamaru nods and kneels down in front of her. "Your mission is to knock on the door and ask what they are doing. Then report what they say back to me." He says very slowly, allowing Hanabi to take in his words.
She nods with a smile and runs down the hall causing us to cringe. "No one told her to be quiet about it did they?" I ask out loud.
Shikamaru shakes his head. "It doesn't matter, she is a spy she can be as loud as she wants and won't draw attention." He says quietly watching Hanabi at the end of the hall as she knocks on the door.
"Hinata I have to pee. What are you doing in there?" Hanabi calls from the hallway.
We can't hear the response from behind the door so we have to trust that Hanabi remembers what they say. "When will you be done?" She asks in a whiney tone. I have to hand it to the kid, she can act pretty well.
"Can I hang out with you guys after?" She calls. She frowns and then turns to come back down the hall. "Fine I will just use the other bathroom." She calls before coming back down the hall and standing in front of Shikamaru.
"They are doing their body scrub, they won't be done for another half an hour because they are doing cucumber masks and applying some kind of mud that mother is letting them use, on their arms and legs." Hanabi whispers with a smile.
I grin. "Looks like Hinata's mother delivered." I say as I bump fists with Lee, it has become a habit after the last soccer season.
"Thank you. You did a good job. Can you watch the door now and notify us if there is any banging or screaming for help?" Shikamaru asks Hanabi.
"Help?" Hanabi questions with wide eyes, a confused look plastered on her face.
Shikamaru smiles. "After all we did lock them in there." He says getting back to his feet.
I cast a look at our dubbed leader. "Well what is step two?" I ask quietly.
The rest of the group looks to Shikamaru for his response. "We steal their snacks and pop all the popcorn in the house." He says with a evil smirk.
"Uhhh how is that going to help?" I ask agitated by yet another seemingly pointless step.
Shikamaru sighs. "Seriously Kiba, just trust me. It will work."
