31,000 feet in the air, the team gathered around the table, once again a file in their hands. Spencer sat next to JJ on one side, Emily next to Derek while Hotch and Rossi took a seat on the brown-ish sofa.
"There were no signs of a break-in, which means Jessica probably opened the door to our unsub," Spencer said.
"Why would a teenage girl just open the door to a stranger?" Derek asked. "I mean, her parents are lawyers, right? They try murder cases, they know the dangers of that job. I can't believe they'd just leave their daughter alone like this, allowing her to open the doors to strangers."
"Well, Jessica was sixteen, she probably didn't want a babysitter," Emily said. She traced her thumb over the picture of the teenage girl. Her hair was black, her eyes green. She looked happy in that picture, a perfect child from a perfect family.
"Prentiss is right," said Rossi. "Attorney or not, the Walker's probably just wanted to be a normal family. So no bodyguards or babysitters, just a normal suburban family in the state of New York."
A loud sound came from the computer in the middle of the table, Penelope chiming in through the camera. She chirped, "Babysitter, no, bodyguard also a big no, but they've got a security system. It hasn't been installed for long."
"They probably installed it when James Walker was elected District Attorney," Hotch said.
"Sounds about right, sir!"
Derek looked into the webcam like he was looking directly at his friend. "What kind of security system are we talking about here, babygirl?" He asked.
"Security cameras, alarms to protect from burglars, five different bolts on the front door... wow, I only have one, maybe I should stock up too."
Derek laughed.
"Why did nobody tell us there were security cameras at the scene?" Hotch frowned, that didn't make sense. Well, most of the time his face resembled a frown or a scowl, it wasn't even surprising anymore.
Penelope narrowed her eyes and typed something, flicking between all her monitors as if she was searching for something. "Well, I hacked into it—" she said.
Morgan snorted. "I thought their security system was up-to-date?"
"You, Derek Morgan, are as sexy as you are clueless," Penelope said. "You must know that, when it comes to security systems, I can hack into almost anything."
She received a flirtatious smirk in return to the shit-eating grin on her plump red lips.
"Anyway, after I attempted about ten different ways to hack into it, the incredibly talented and beautiful goddess that I am, I finally managed. Someone, and by someone I mean this sick son of a bitch, must've slipped into the system right at the core which in this case, is the crime scene itself, and wiped the footage from clean. And if I mean clean, I mean like germaphobe Reid clean. There isn't even a single trace left."
