The plane landed sooner than expected and with only another three minor turbulences.

Skylar was the first one to storm out. She inhaled a deep breath of fresh air, enjoying the feeling of being back on earth. Though the floor still felt like a cheap cup of hospital jello, she was glad that she had survived the last few hours without a scratch.

Much to her dislike, Hotch then told Derek to drive with her and Reid to the medical examiner's office. She felt like her new boss didn't approve of their friendship and now used the way more muscular Morgan to keep them apart.

Skylar wanted to tell him she was in no way attracted to Spencer Reid and that she wouldn't jump his bones — especially not on the team's jet because ew? — even if her life depended on it.

Okay, maybe the latter was a bit of an overstatement, but she truly had no urge to fuck her friend; as attractive as he was, she wasn't exactly horny for him.

She adored Spencer; they shared a bond like nothing she'd ever felt before. What they shared was more of a mutual connection, and she could tell that Spencer found her attractive as well, but friends could find each other attractive without having sex. Hotch either didn't want to take risks or he was mad that they got along so well.

Either way, he sucks.

"Does this SUV have an aux cord?" Skylar asked casually as she put her seatbelt on.

She had convinced Derek to let her drive shotgun because she got nauseous in the backseat — especially after a plane ride like that — and if he didn't want her to vomit all over his precious shirt, he would have to let her get into the passenger seat. All that paired with the cutest doll face, Spencer's complaints didn't even stand a chance. She had Derek wrapped around her finger already; he adored her and Spencer couldn't help but feel threatened by that.

Morgan shook his head. "No," he said, "and even if it would, you wouldn't be the one I'd give it to."

"That's unfair, I have a marvelous music taste."

"Now, I don't doubt that, nothing is worse than listening to Reid's music. You know what the kid's favorite artist is?"

"Beethoven," Skylar said without missing a beat.

Spencer broke into the biggest smile, one he hadn't found a use for in years. The moment he realized that, he stored it away again —  he didn't know why that was, but smiling simply didn't feel right. Still, her remembering the simplest and smallest of details about him felt like music to his ears. Pun intended.

Derek hit the breaks, hard. A look of shock crossed his face as the SUV came to a sudden halt at the traffic lights. His head swiveled to the side and he stared at Skylar who casually watched the passing buildings on their way like a child. She admired Sioux City, no doubt.
