Timothy Franklin is the one who constructed the attack...
JJ's words repeated in her head like clockwork.
"What?" Skylar asked. Her hearing was numb, her heart beating up to her throat. She could feel her pulse in every fiber of her body; it suffocated her.
"We found dozens of articles concerning the engineering of a bioweapon strain," JJ explained. "His research papers were all on the botulinum toxin, and we found a map of Washington Park in his belongings. It marks entrances and attack points. There's even some sort of time plan that is the exact version of what's in our official case files," she said. The sound of people shuffling around on the other side came to her attention. Maybe if she focused on that, she would not fall out of reality again.
"I-it can't be him," Skylar objected. "It doesn't make any sense. Why would he-"
Derek cut in. "I don't know, but something's definitely off about him," he said.
"I think so, too," JJ answered.
She shook her head. "No! Timothy just told us it was his professor. He experimented with the toxin for a better grade and created this strain without the intent to hurt anyone. He didn't know that his professor was secretly selling it to our unsubs, he just found out recently and was about to expose him. JJ, it can't be him! I believe him."
"What- are you sure?"
"Yeah, he sounds pretty convincing. Someone must've planted the evidence." She gazed through the small window next to the door. Spencer was talking to the paralyzed boy who had no idea what the Agents had found in his dorm room.
Did she really profile him so wrong?
"Now, we don't know that, sweetheart. Maybe our profile was just... wrong," Derek suggested.
"It wasn't. I'm sure," Skylar said.
"Can you be sure though?"
"Yes, I know a liar when I see one. Timothy might be a brat but he is no liar!"
Timothy didn't profile like a suicide bomber, which was the closest thing to what Derek and JJ were suggesting. Skylar was good at her job and she refused to believe the easiest way out. They had to do their job right. She couldn't have been so wrong about him, it didn't seem right.
"There's when the even worse news comes in," said JJ. "Strauss found out and ordered us to arrest him."
"The bitch did what now?" Skylar snapped. "She does realize that this entire theory is so far-fetched, it's barely even a theory? Of course, there's your evidence but there's also the fact that Timothy is literally dying right now. He can't even help the case in the state he's in, let alone flee the country! Why arrest him?"
