As the weeks start to pass, Finn finds himself completely engrossed in his training, upping his daily time from two and a half hours to almost five hours a day, six days a week. It wasn't his decision but after seeing the progress he's making he is exceedingly thankful that Chris, his trainer, is pushing him this hard. He is now also eating about 5000 calories a day which was actually hard to adjust to at first, but he got used to it and, not surprisingly, it's now his favorite part of the regimen.
After the first week, Finn had gotten out of the shower and caught a glimpse of himself in the mirror. It wasn't a huge change but he noticed his upper arms were somewhat larger with faint lines of definition. Something he knew only he could notice, but still, it was an improvement and it made him up his intensity. Seeing actual physical evidence of the work he was putting in proved to be quite the motivator.
By the end of the second week, he noticed that he had actual definition in his abs—not just the faint lines—and his calves too. His torso had gained girth as well which was something he never thought he'd be able to do. He had always been incredibly lanky and he assumed that was all he'd ever be. He thought if nothing else came from acting in this movie with Millie, at least he now knows that he's able to gain muscle and moreover, that he's able to gain mass.
Now, as the last session of his third week is wrapping up, Chris takes a moment to tell Finn how pleased he is with his progress.
"You've done great man, way better than I expected." The trainer laughs, bringing his hand down hard on Finn's shoulder which still makes him lurch a bit, but only because Chris is such a mountain of a man. Or at least that's what he tells himself.
"Hey! What do you mean 'way better than I expected'?" he asks in a deep mocking voice.
"Honestly? I didn't think I'd be able to make much of a difference in you with only three weeks but, hey! You did it, my man! You've actually gained!. . . I mean, you still have a ways to go, don't get me wrong. But Luc didn't want you really buff yet anyway. That needs to come a bit later. . . in these earlier scenes, Rowan isn't quite so big yet, but he also isn't as gaunt as you were three weeks ago."
Finn rolls his eyes with an amused snort escaping his nose, "Well honestly, I didn't think I'd be able to do it either." He taps Chris bicep with the back of his hand, "But you're a pretty good trainer, Chris. Thanks for pushing me. I know I was a pain in the ass."
"Understatement of the year, my friend." Chris quips.
He snickers and says, "Oh, whatever." then bends down and grabs the handles of his gym bag, hoisting it over his shoulder, "Well. . . I guess I'll see you next week then?"
Chris glances at the file in his hands, "Yeah, see you Thursday." he looks at him with a wagging brow, "You've got your other training starting on Monday, right?"
"Yup and the table read. . . everything is getting started, it's crazy." Finn says with a nervous breath leaving his puffed cheeks.
"You excited?" Chris asks with a grin.
"Uh. . . yeah." his voice is high, so he clears his throat then says more confidently, "Yeah, I am."
"Why the hesitation?" Chris asks, crossing his arms over his chest, looking at him with fresh skepticism.
The actor backhands the air, "It's nothing, really, I'm excited." But Chris narrows his eyes on him, "Is it the girl?"
