Sadie is already at Millie's house when she gets home from filming in that awful contraption from hell. The red-head is close with the Brown family and often drops in unannounced just to hang out with them even when Millie isn't there. Although today, she was invited for a very specific purpose.
As Millie walks into the kitchen, she sees her family and friend and drops her purse on the floor dramatically, letting out a loud groan.
"Well hello to you too, darling." Her mother greets her, turning from the stove where she's cooking what smells to Millie like a curry dish.
"Sorry." She says, coming back to her senses, "Just glad to be home. And whatever that is, it smells phenomenal."
"Thank you dear, why don't you and Sadie go wash up, dinner will be ready in about thirty minutes."
She does as she's told and heads upstairs with Sadie. She puts her things away as Sadie hops onto her bed, browsing her phone as she waits.
"So why is Caleb getting on your nerves?" Millie asks, joining her friend on the bed. She knows Sadie doesn't want to talk about it, but she is just too damn intrigued about what could have thrown a wrench in the gears of that well oiled relationship.
Sadie rolls her eyes, "I thought I was here to talk about your problems, Mil."
Millie clicks her tongue and bobs her head, "Well, right. . . but what happened? Did you get into a fight?"
Sadie shies away, obviously not wanting to share, "Kind of." She mumbles.
"Well, what was it about?" she asks, grabbing one of her decorative pillows so she can fiddle the the corner of the pillow case.
Sadie lightly shakes her head, "It was nothing important, trust me. . . just Caleb being stupid."
She cocks her head to the side, "How so?"
Sadie blows out her cheeks, clearly annoyed by this line of questioning and Millie is starting to wonder why her usually revealing friend is acting so aloof.
"He just—he just disagreed with me on something. . . important."
Millie's probing eyes implore for more pointed information as she waves her hand for her friend to continue.
Sadie exasperatedly drops her arms to her sides, "Fine. I'll tell you. . .Caleb said that you should give Finn a 'path to redemption'. What he means by that, I have no freaking clue, but I told him that there are some things you just don't come back from and what Finn did, certainly qualifies."
This catches Millie off guard. She finds herself feeling guilty that Sadie and Caleb got into a fight because of her. And moreover, she is surprised that they even talk about the two of them while alone. What could have possibly brought up the subject of her and Finn?
"Well I mean—" She starts then looks off to the side, "I-I always have said that I believe in second chances, but—"
"Millie, you don't have to defend yourself to me." Sadie eyes her sympathetically, "Finn screwed up and even if he is sorry, that doesn't change what happened. . .I was there with you in the hospital that night. Seeing you go through what you went through was. . . awful. And for Finn to just blow you off for his friends? No amount of goddamn alcohol is a good enough excuse for how he behaved or for what he said. Even if it was his first time drinking. He should have known better, he should have gone to you. I don't ever want to see you in that situation again and—shit—If he hurt you again? I'd need a damn good lawyer." She cackles.
