Narrator's POV

'(y/n) was walking down the street with her backpack on her back. She made a right turn and kept walking forwards. Finally, she came up to her house. Opening the door with her key, she walked inside and put her bag on the floor. 'The curtains are closed..?' she thought. Closing the door behind her, she paused, hearing some strange sounds. It sounded like... gasping? "Mom..?" (y/n) called into the darkness. Taking small steps, she reached for the door handle, and just as she was about to open it, a loud, painful shriek rang throughout the house. "MOM!"

She swung open the door and sees her mum, once a woman who stood tall and proud, sheltering her children and who (y/n) looked up to was laying on the floor. Her mum's breathing was quick and short and her skin was tight. The female on the floor, who originally looked like a 25 year old was suddenly 98 year old grandmother.

"(y/n)....Don...'t.......come....close.....run.......li.....ve....the....virus...." her mum managed to get out.

"No..."(y/n) whispered. "Don't die. Dad needs you. Brother needs you. need you." Tears streamed down her face. She grasped her mum's hand as if she let go, her mum would die. Tears streamed down their faces. A wierd, musty scent that smelt of old bones filled the air. Suddenly, her mum exploded. Blood, tissue and bone fragments flying everywhere. Blood mingled with the sweat, tears and grime on her face, (y/n) stared in shock. Her mouth agape. The thick red liquid dripped down her face. Then a door clicking brought (y/n) back to reality. "I'm home!(y/n)?" a voice she recognized as her dad's sounded. Sobbing her eyes out, (y/n) ran to her dad. "Mum...exploded...blood....everywhere.....virus..." she managed to choke out between sobs.

"Shhhhhh. It's going to be okay. Things will work out..." her dad said soothingly whilst patting her head. For a 13 year old, it was traumatizing. The same strange smell filled the air. Suddenly, a loud cough interrupted her train of thought. Looking up, she saw blood trickling out of her dad's mouth. (y/n) shrieked and stepped back. Her dad collapsed onto the floor, a river of blood flowing from his mouth. Raising his hand, he gently touched her cheek and looked at her lovingly before his hand became limp and he bleed out in front of the door. "No! Don't die!" (y/n) cried. "Why..."

Soon his eyes glazed over. They became nothing more than two glassy orbs embedded in his skull, staring at the little girl they couldn't see. The closed curtains blocked out the light like the lid of a coffin. (y/n) sobbed untill she could no more. 'At least Jade isn't dead yet.' the girl thought. The thought of her brother made her cheer up a little. 'For now, I will stay by dad...'the little girl felt sad. The sadness soon became sleepiness. She lay there and slept.

Opening her eyes, the little girl saw the ceiling sighed in relief. It was a dream. Her parents were alive and she was okay. Then she felt something cold in her hand. Turning to see what it was, her movements were almost robotic. Rusty and rough. She was both curious and scared. In the end, she made up her mind. Turning her head, she saw something that made her heart drop. It was her dad. As cold as ice, bled dry and covered in his own blood. Tears welled up in her eyes. Then the door opened. Her brother was here.

Seeing the sight in front of him made his eyes pop out. His sister was laying in a pool of blood, covered in tears, sweat and dirt. There was also chunks on flesh here and there. There was a heavy metallic smell. "What happened?"

(y/n) sniffed and told her brother everything. How their mum blew up and their dad bled dry. Snuggling her in a warm embrace. Then, the scent of musty bones filled the air once more. Her brother started turning cold. Gasping, (y/n) saw her brother was becoming his name. Jade. Clawing at the pieces of jade, she tried to stop them from encasing her brother. Seeing her efforts, Jade smiled knowing it was futile. He then put a necklace with a rare white jade stone around her neck. "It will bring you good luck."he said. Smiling, he patted her head, causing her to close her eyes. When she opened them, he was gone. A jade statue was all that was left of him. Hugging the statue that was once her brother, (y/n) cried into it's hard, smooth material. Now she was truly alone. Her parents was dead. Her friends feared her and the only one that was supposedly alive was encased in one of the hardest stones ever. Her tears flowed down the hard material. She had no-one.'

(y/n) sat up shaking. It was one of her nightmare flashbacks. She could still smell the  strange scent and the smell of blood. Sweat dripped down her face as she took a deep breath. She started thinking about how her brother was saved.

'(y/n) ran to the phone and dialed the ambulance.

At the hospital, all the doctors wore suits that covered their whole body. Whenever (y/n) moved, they would always flinch as if she was going to kill them. One doctor came up to her and said, "Your brother is in the statue, right?"

She nodded.

"Well you are very lucky. He is alive... for now... But we need to destroy the outer casing or he might die in there. He will most likely unstable when we get him out. We will need to transplant him into your body. We will make it so he can merge in to you and separate from you, ok?"

(y/n) nodded again. She felt the cold stone against her neck and she took it out.

It looked very pretty

It looked very pretty.  Closing her eyes, (y/n) clutched the stone and fell asleep.'
