Chapter 34: Eyes in the dark

Narrator's POV

As (y/n) got ready to sleep, Jade was reading a book and making sure there was nothing that could potentially harm her. 
"Hey Jade?" 

"Hm?" Jade hummed as a reply. 

"Did you enjoy the party?" his sister asked.

"It was ok. I did met someone like me. His name was something like Martial Law. He seemed really close to his brother Philippines."

(y/n) nodded and smiled at her brother, glad he had a good time. Suddenly, Pearl leapt onto the bed and started licking the girl, causing her to laugh. Jade smiled but told her to stop because she was getting the sheets dirty. Surprisingly, Pearl listened and went to go sleep with the other dogs. 

Sighing, Jade remembered the party they just held.

(Start of flashback)

'As Jade was talking to Martial Law, Japan Empire went over to (y/n) and started flirting with her. America got jealous and took the slightly confused girl and started to dance with her. Then, Third Reich spun (y/n) away from Ame, then took her back to the dining room. They had a chat and Third tried to kiss the girl when Soviet swept (y/n) away from Reich. Instead of trying to returning her to her brother, he also tried to kiss her. Then, Reichtangle whisked the girl outside and they had a chat. 

(y/n) was slightly dizzy and walked into the garden. She bumped into Australia who was patting his snake. She nearly fell when Aussie caught her. They talked for a bit when the snake slithered onto (y/n). At first, Australia thought she would be scared like nearly every other country but, instead, the girl laughed and patted the snake. The two of them talked a bit when Jade ran outside and took his little sister inside. 

Inside, Jade went back to Martial and (y/n) joked around with Philippense. When America came over, Martial and Jade both protected their younger siblings and pushed them behind Jade. ' 

(End of flashback)

"Martial Law is an interesting guy... Now, go get some sleep (y/n) or you'll be really tired tomorrow. Oh and tomorrow we're moving to America's house." Jade said, changing  into his sleepwear. Nodding, (y/n) crawled into the covers and went to sleep. Jade looked at his sister, then turned the lights off and slept next to his sister.

What Jade didn't notice was a pair of eyes looking in through the window...

Standing on the balcony was a country with a military hat and a black coat on. He had three triangular sections on his face, each a different colour. White, red and blue. On the white section was a yellow sun. The country looked somewhat similar to Philippines but slightly different. How? Well, the flag on Philippines' face was blue on the top right square but this country's flag was blue on the bottom left triangle. His name was Martial Law.

Looking in through the window, Martial made sure Jade and (y/n) were asleep before opening the door to their room. Then, he walked silently to their bed. 

"So this is the girl who has all the countries wrapped around her finger, huh... No wonder... She's good tempered, good looking and very sweet and smart... Her reflexes also seem quite sharp..." Martial whispered under his breath while reaching out a hand to touch the girl's face. But, just as his hand was about to touch the girl's face, a hand grabbed his arm. 

His eyes widened. Martial was sure everyone, including the dogs, was already asleep. 'Impossible...' Martial Law thought. He turned his head to see Jade was grabbing his arm but he was not awake. 'I guess I underestimated these humans...' the country thought, prying Jade's finger's off his arm. They were wrapped around his arm quite tightly. Afraid Jade will wake, Martial carefully moved his arm out of Jade's grasp before slipping out the window. 

'Someday, I'll make that girl mine...' he thought as he sprinted towards his brother Philippines' house. Luckily, neither Philip, KKK (his dad), De Pilar (his older brother) or Perla (his mom) were awake.
(Meanwhile)         

Jade opened his eyes and sat up. Something didn't feel right. The peace had been disturbed by something- no, someone. Looking around the room, he indeed did see signs someone had come into this room. It wasn't anyone from Germany's family because the scent left behind was different. Jade's eyes narrowed. He faintly remembered the scent and grabbing onto someone's arm. 
Suddenly, a gust of wind caught his attention. The balcony window was opened. He remembered closing it before sleeping. Nevertheless, Jade got up and went to go close the window. Although it was 11pm, the streets were still buzzing with life and light. It was nice to see human like things after 2-3 years of solitude. Sighing, Jade looked up to see there was no way someone could have climbed in through the balcony because the the only way down was... Jade's eyes widened. He knew who it was and heck was the intruder sneaky....

<Neko-chan here! Hope you've enjoyed this chapter! It was 828 words long but a little bit short. Here's a little bit of an explanation about the chapter. 

Martial Law is not a pedifile, he just doesn't know how to interact with people. He climbed in through the balcony because there was no other way in other than the door which was locked. Third Reich's room had a large window but Reich was very experienced in war stuff and would most likely wake up if Martial came in through there. Jade was always alert and he would sense people's auras before acting. He didn't bother opening his eyes because Martial Law didn't give off a dangerous aura.
