Today I wanted to give some tips about fasting.
I know that this is really, really hard to fast for longer than 16 hours. ESPECIALLY when you have Binge Eating Disorder. E S P E C I A L L Y when you have a lot of food around (like on this end of year).
So, here are some tips that have been helping me through my cravings for the last 30 hours. I'd like to say that these won't work for everybody, but they have definitly been helping me, so I'll allow myself to share them.
Disclaimer: I do NOT support eating disorders. I'm fully for recovery. However, I don't want to recover and I don't feel ready for it, and I also acknowledge that I'm not the only one in this situation. I understand that other people like me might be just as overweight (or just self hating) like me, and believe that loosing weight might help them with their self-esteem, which is why I post this kind of tips. Thank you for understanding.
Watch YouTube videos about makeup. You'll think "do I really want food when I could get skinny and have a pretty face on which I could put that [lipstick/gloss/eyeshadow] without it looking like a pathetic attempt at beauty?". At least, that's pretty much what I thought.Videos about fashion, clothes and hauls also work a lot for that! Actually, they might even help more, since most of us do this for our bodies more than our faces.Really anything about beauty in general will work. I like to look at pretty nails, because they make me keep my motivation for skinny hands and fingers.Learn to do something you never did before! I've been learning to apply nail polish for hours, and that both distracts and motivates me. Also, you can't eat with fresh nail polish. (That also helps me stop biting them if you want!)Any drink under 50 cals doesn't break a fast, since your body can't make energy with it. Of you feel cravings for some taste (other than cold water/green tea/black coffee), have some almond milk with cinnamon. Or a low cal fruit juice. Whatever you can find that is less than 50 cals and would make you feel better! You can also make a 0 cals broth. Easy, really: hot water mixed with the spices of your choice. I'm still looking for the perfect combination!Walk in place while listening to music. If you have a creative mind, you might make up stories in your head about your favourite characters/OCs! It's my fav thing to do, I do that at least 2 hours a day ^^'Text thinspiration! They work way better for me, a reader, than 'normal' thinspo, giving me a more pleasant idea of the future I might have if I do loose this weight.Going back to fashion & makeup! You can go on e-shops and pick-up any clothes you'd like to wear, once you're skinny or not. Put them in your wishlist or your cart. If you can afford to, you can also buy your favourite at each goal weight you unlock!Play video games. Really basic, but I can spend hours on the Sims 4 and totally forget about food.Take a bath if you have a bathtube. Not only will that relax you, but you'll feel too great in the water to get up and have food.Sleep. One of the most known ones. But we're currently on Winter's Break, so it's especially useful now (not that it wasn't before). You can sleep all day if you want. (Proof, I did it. Fell asleep at 9am and woke up at 8pm. It's currently half past midnight :'))
I hope it might have helped some of y'all!
Please, do never fast for longer than a hundred hours. It's extremely dangerous and is perfectly useless. Your body already burns less fast and more muscle after 72 hours! Imagine how dangerous (and useless, since I know some of y'all don't give a fuck about danger) it can be after 100. It's way better to fast for less time but more often than long fasts once in a while. Why do you think intermittent fasting works so well?
•Warnings•
-You shouldn't go longer than about 3 days. You could inflict damage on your organs.
-Drink plenty of water. At least 2L
-If you get dizzy or faint, EAT. Baby carrots have 4 cal in each one and celery has none.
-Don't do heavy workouts.
•Tips•
-Celery has zero calories as it's mostly water. You burn calories by chewing it so basically it's negative calories.
-Tea, Coffee, and zero calorie carbonated drinks help curb hunger pains.
-Hunger pains go away if you drink a glass of cold water. They also go away after about 8 minutes and also a heating pad helps.
-Brush your teeth with mint toothpaste if you want to eat. Everything will taste gross.
-If you're forced to eat, take a smaller portion.
-If you go out to eat, try ordering from the kids menu. If you can't get anything off the kids menu always get a salad. They fill you up faster.
-Always drink soda or juice with a straw. You won't be able to drink as much as fast.
-If you're going to break your fast, eat a small amount fruits/veggies first and wait.
-If you have to eat, always drink a glass of cold water before hand.
-Green tea helps metabolism.
Liquid Fasting!
How to:
·Prepare your body a few days in advance, eats lots of fruits, vegetables, anything with a high water content! This will make the transition easier! ·Don't just drink water! This is not just a fast, it's a liquid fast, tomato juice, skim milk, protein shakes, clear broth (even gelatin you can see through!) can all be used!
Why to:
·Detoxes your body; constant supply of liquids can help clear out mucus from your body! ·Because your detoxing your body, your organs are going to work better! ·(Can help with weight lost but we all know that)
Be careful:
·You're drinking all your calories, so you might be more hungry than usual, don't let that get you down, increase your calorie intake to keep your metabolism up! (You'll be digesting liquids faster than solids!) ·If you feel faint, remember; a slice of whole wheat bread is only 70cal. Listen to your body, if you need something, please eat! · You can easily overhydrate, make sure to balance this but drinking things with salt in them. (I usually have V8 tomato juice, I like the taste and it will help with getting salt!)
the obvious: i've been fasting since 19:00 on sunday (it's about 09:35 as i write this). after all that excessive eating of carbs and sugary candy, i felt so sick, physically and mentally. so i've been cleansing my body by fasting and getting back on track.i've been drinking an excessive amount of water, green tea, black coffee, and propel water (has electrolytes - 0 cal). stay hydrated when you're fasting, especially if you still plan on working out or doing anything even slightly strenuous! it keeps your fluids up(duh) but also fills your stomach, cleanses your body, and helps to avoid binges.i meditate and do yoga every morning to get into the right mindset for the day and every night before i go to sleep to have positive thoughts. (it sounds cheesy but it actually works, i promise.)i printed out some pictures of inspiring females that i love more than life itself who just so happen to be some wonderful thinspo, too. For me, that's Saoirse Ronan, Emma Mackey, Scarlett Johansson, Lily James, Maya Hawke, and Zendaya. all of these women are not only my celebrity crushes lol but they are also incredibly inspiring. so every night i look at the pictures i put by my bed and i feel empowered.
