Chapter 38. Old friends

You layed in your bed, looking up at the ceiling. Your eyes were open and your mind wide awake. Thought about what had happened clouded your mind. After all these years you saw Sojourn again and the first thing you did was scream at her. You didnt controll your emotions and just let everything out, and now you felt guilty.
The guilt kept you awake.

Not being able to sleep you decided to take a walk to get some fresh air, just like you did back at the Overwatch base. You grabbed your shoes, hearing aids and a coat, looking at Kumo one last time before closing the door behind you. As always Kumo was sleeping peacefully and deep and you decided not to wake him.

The air was crisp and cold, and your breath could be seen as a little white cloud. You looked up at the sky, it was beautiful. The stars shone bright above you and the moon was almost full.
Taking a seat outside it reminded you of the days back at the Shimada castle when you would sneak out with Genji to sit on the roof and watched the stars.
You chuckled at those happy memories that you missed.
It was almost Christmas time again, and you really started to feel the loneliness. You felt as if it got bigger every day Christmas came nearer and nearer. Maybe because its a holiday with family or friends or maybe just because you knew that you would be either spending it alone or working.

You ended up choosing the latter, and just went on a mission, because even on Christmas its not peaceful.
You sighed, letting out a deep breath.
"Why was I so rude to her?!" You asked yourself.
"I should have hugged her, saying that I missed her but instead I let out all my feelings even though the past cant be changed now"
You hated yourself for what you had screamed in Sojiurns face, and regretted it.
"Im just so dumb!" You screamed ruffling your hair.

"Who are you talking to?" A familir voice asked.

"Kumo?!" You exclaimed.
"You scared me!"

"Sorry I didnt mean to startle you (Y/N)." He said, sitting down next to you.
"You feel bad dont you?" He asked.

"Yeah." You started to fidget around with your hands.

"Yeah you were pretty rude...but they will always forgive you and take you back. They are your family (Y/N), dont give them up so easily." Kumo said.

"But isnt this my right place?" You asked unsure of what to do.

"Let me tell you something (Y/N)." Kumo said.
"In my long lifetime I was the companion of hundreds no thousands of people, and most of them were alone. And being alone was never good for them, they had everything they wanted but in the end most if them killed themselves."

"Why? Why would they do that if they had everything?" You asked.

"Because they had everything expect a family and friends, they were alone. And years of being alone lead to suicide. So many of them had giant empires or were very rich, but that didnt made them happy." Kumo took a little break and looked up at you.
"You are not completely happy here, I can see that (Y/N). I have seen so many people die, I dont want to see how you take your life too. You are cery important to me (Y/N), you are the first person in years that treats me like a friend instead of a slave. You are not happy, so why dont you just take the steps needed and listen to yourself for once, deep inside of you, you know what it takes for you to be happy." He smiled up at you.

"Kumo..." tears formed into your eyes.
"Im so happy to have met you!" You hugged Kumo tightly, neither of you wanting to let go.
"You are right, they are my family and they make me happy! I want to go back...I truly do!" You cried out, sobbing on his fur.

"Ewwww Im gonna have your snot all over me!" Kumo joked.

"I love you Kumo! I love you so much!"
