Luke and I made our way to Jade's house, by the time we arrived everyone else was already there we decided that it was nice enough to have a swim in the pool so that's just what we did then laid in the sun to dry and do a bit of sunbaking while Jade cooked us all tea.
"Tea is almost ready so go get changed. Also we'll have another guest soon" Jade announced from the back door.
We all went to get changed into pyjamas, since we wouldn't be going anywhere, then we went to the kitchen and waited for tea to be served. After we had all eaten we stacked the plates and continued to sit at the table talking while Kate and Amy took care of the dishes.
There was a knock on the front door and Jade went to answer it, when she came back into the room Brian was following close behind holding an overnight bag.
"Brian's plumbing played up so he's going to be staying with us tonight as he has no water" Jade informed.
"Or he just needed an excuse to see you while we were all here" Elise winked.
"I can assure you that's not the case" Brian denied.
"Now all the detention people are here" Kate cheered.
"We should play truth or dare" Amy suggested, even if it was a corny game I do admit we played it a lot at our sleepovers so she knew none of us would say no.
"Are you two in?" Sam asked Jade and Brian.
I got a very brief flashback of the last time I played this game around Brian. "I don't think that's a good idea" I stated.
"Riley's right, no matter how cool they are you should never play truth or dare with your teachers" Brian agreed.
"I think Brian and I will sit this one out. But don't let us stop you from having fun" Jade said.
So we went up to the room that Kate always stayed in when she spent time with Jade.
"It's a shame that Brian and Jade didn't want to play because I would have dared them to kiss" Elise said, a shot of jealousy shot through me but I buried it deep down.
We began our game and played a few rounds without anything of much interest happening. "Riley, truth or dare?" Amy asked.
I gave it some thought "Truth" I answered.
"Okay... Why didn't you want Jade and Brian to play?" She questioned.
Usually I would consider it a lame question but under these circumstances I suppose it wasn't. But I broke the rules of the game anyway by lying "As Brian said it isn't a smart idea to play truth or dare with teachers" I shrugged.
"You've never had an objection to Jade playing before" Kate commented.
Luke leaned over to whisper in my ear "It's not like I would have dared you to kiss Brian again". I guess he said it a little too loud because everyone immediately looked at us quizzically and slightly shocked.
"Woah. What does Luke mean by again?" Sam inquired.
I shook my head "It's my turn to ask the questions".
"Fine but we're not going to drop this" Elise warned.
We played a few more rounds and every time I got to choose between truth or dare I would pick dare so that they couldn't ask me even though I knew I'd have to tell them soon enough.
"Dare" I answered to Kate.
"I dare you to choose truth on your next go" she said, very happy with herself for thinking of it,I was pretty sure we had agreed that we weren't meant to dare people to tell the truth but I knew they all wanted to know. Of course I was asked truth or dare after two more go's and I played along.
"What did Luke mean when he said that he wouldn't dare you to kiss Brian again? And when on earth did this happen?" Sam demanded.
Even though it was two questions they went hand in hand. "You all know about it you just didn't know the guy was Brian, and neither did I until our first detention with him when he showed us that picture of him and Caleb where he had red hair" I explained.
"Do you mean that guy Luke dared you to kiss in a mall was Brian?!" Kate yelled, catching on immediately.
"Shush!" I hushed her and threw a cushion as hard as I could at her face. She face-palmed herself and gave an apologetic smile "But yes. I just didn't want you guys to worry so I didn't tell you but the truth is I think I really like Brian. I know it's wrong but I haven't been able to keep him off my mind. Now that I know him I realise the real him is far better than the version I had imagined".
"I take back what I said about Brian and Jade. I totally ship you and Brian" Elise announced.
"Are you sure this isn't fate?" Sam asked.
"That's what I think, she won't listen though" Luke smirked.
"Does Brian know about you being the girl from the mall?" Amy asked.
"Are you kidding!? No he doesn't and you better not tell him" I hissed. "Plus I don't even know if he remembers the kiss".
"Judging by how you described that kiss I'm guessing it'd be pretty hard for both parties to forget. Now that I think about it he does seem to treat you specially" Elise grinned.
"Yet another thing I tried to tell her" Luke said.
"Brian and Riley sitting in a tree-" Kate began to sing, the others all joined in with the childish song.
"Stop, nothing will happen between us. It can't he's my teacher" I reminded them.
They fell silent and stayed quiet for some time. "Well your secret's safe with us" Sam promised.
"Good now let's just drop the subject" I demanded.
I could tell they all still had questions they wished to ask but they obeyed anyway.
"Hey guys, come down stairs for a Tim Burton marathon!" Jade called out. We were all fans of Burton's films so there was no way we were turning down a marathon of his movies.
