Chapter 5: The Second Battle

(Kingdom of Wuyue)

The next day was sunny day, as they are about to go to their next expedition ---- Kingdom of Wuyue. It is still at the northern part. Then they start to ride their horses as they are about to travel when Ling rides a separate horse instead of riding at the back of Frank.

Frank gets upset and called the attention of Ling and approach her while her riding a horse.

"Ling, can you just ride behind me. It is his horse, not yours!" Frank said.

Ling then went down from the horse and face Frank.

"You really have a concern on him? Or you just wanna be with me?" Ling madly said.

Frank gets upset again and said "Ling, you really do not get it. I just do not want you to escape."

Ling gets upset also and said "For God's sake Frank, you still do not trust me! No worries Frank, I will grant all your wishes when the war is over!"

Frank responded her sarcastically "Oh really! What a surprise to hear from you that you will finally give in to me after the fight!"

Ling shake her head and whispered towards his ears "Frank, think whatever you want to think.... if you can conquer me."

Then Ling lean backward "but for now, just let me be faraway from you."

"Ok Ling, I will remember this promise you made."

Ling just shake her head and ride again at the horse.

Then they commence the expedition. It takes them over the day to go to their next destination.

While Frank is distant from Ling, he finds himself longing for her promise, that he wishes she will fulfill it to him despite negatively, he guess Ling only said it in order to get away from him. He wishes that one day Ling will even just like him a bit, despite of him treated her bad the first time they met.

Then he recalled the first time they met at the rice field. He feel it was love at first sight, but he was preoccupied by what his body is calling, that is to make sex with a girl everytime he finds attractive. Then he regret disrespected her that makes her tougher not get near him, especially that he makes her half-naked in front of him. For him, she is indeed beautiful girl with glowing eyes and youthful glow, who deserves to be loved rather than treating her like a slut.

If only he respected her and gently care for her at that moment, he guess she might fall in love with him.

Then he realizes he have to respect her and show to her that he cares starting from now on, till it is not yet too late.

It was nighttime already when they arrived at Wuyue. They setup their new headquarters and have rested for a while and make another plan. This time Frank asked Ling to get involved to their plan. This time, Frank is now treating Ling professionally and has sense of control. Ling gets surprise of his approach towards her and she finds him harmless then and she is grateful about it. Frank then let Ling to suggest as what to do and he gets amazed how clever is Ling in battle tactics, despite she has no experience about it. To him, perhaps it is in Ling's blood, without her knowing that her true parents are in royal blood.

Then they eat supper with their companion. Frank never asked anymore for Ling to sit beside him, he just ask Ling to sit wherever she wants and have a dinner. Ling then instead sit with other companion. Frank gets secretly jealous especially to the one who let his horse borrowed by Ling, his subordinate named Simon. Frank stared at Ling while eating dinner seated beside Simon that they feel at ease with each other while talking. Frank knows Simon so well, of among his companion, he is more kind and obedient. No wonder that Ling finds at ease being with Simon. Frank, starting to control himself this time, just let them get closer to each other. Frank is silent throughout their dinner and walk away.
