It has been the longest damn day ever.
It started with the police station where I had to recount everything that had transpired over the past few months, specifically my interactions with Mimi and my history with Tyler and Jasmine, although there wasn't much they could do about them other than pass off the case to international authorities that specialize in cybercrime. Child pornography is a grave offense in mostly all countries and cultures. And since this is high profile involving the secret lover of the biggest boy band on the planet, I have no doubt in my mind that those involved will be facing a serious shitstorm.
After the police station, we spend the rest of the day at the company building to meet with their team of lawyers. I'm not surprised that Mr. Choi isn't in attendance but I do wonder if he had anything to do with the leaks, considering he's Mimi's uncle. Hell, I'm curious if he even still works for the company. And if so, what does he make of his niece's vile behavior? Surely it must make for an uncomfortable situation for all parties involved. And there's no way to ensure that Mr. Choi wasn't inadvertently complicit.
"How are you doing?" Hoseok asks during a much-needed break, giving my hand a squeeze.
The guys have alternated being with me all day since it's far too difficult to escape prying eyes and ears when there's seven of them. They're some of the most famous faces in Asia, probably even the world. Even the detectives were fanboying over Jin and Namjoon, who accompanied me when I went to give my statement.
"I'm fine, Hobi," I smile. "How are you feeling?"
He shrugs. "Can I be honest?"
I swallow down my fear. "Of course."
"I'm angry. Very angry. I don't like people trying to hurt you to hurt us."
"I know, baby," I say quietly, shifting my hand so we can intertwine our fingers under the conference room table. "But please don't let it bother you. I need to feel your positivity and see your smile. It charges my battery and makes me feel better. I'm tired of gray skies; I need my sun."
Hoseok manages to give me a soft grin and it takes everything in me not lean forward and touch my lips to his in hopes that it'll cause his forced smile to touch his eyes. He's usually very dominant with me yet always caring. And there's something about him now that feels soft and meek. He's used to absolute control, and this situation has been nothing less than chaotic. I'm sure he's feeling somewhat disoriented from it all and I hate that I've disrupted his life.
A second later, Jungkook comes into the conference room with Yoongi in tow. The younger man's arms are filled with snacks and drinks that he sets down in front of me, causing baggies and bottles to scatter over the mahogany wood top.
"What's all this?" I inquire, a bit embarrassed. There's still quite a few staff hanging around and I can't help but feel like we're being scrutinized.
"I thought you might be hungry, Noona," he answers, a small pout on his bowed lips. "And thirsty. You...you didn't eat breakfast this morning. And you only picked at your lunch."
I smile at him lovingly as he takes the empty seat beside me. "Thank you, baby, but...I'm ok. Really."
"I told you she didn't need all that," Yoongi murmurs. Then he reaches over and nabs a bag of chips, not hesitating to briefly caress my hand in the process. I look up at him and he gives me a soft grin and a wink then goes to sit on Hoseok's other side. The two rappers engage in a conversation about an upcoming project, giving me the opportunity to turn to Jungkook and check in with him—something I regret not doing earlier.
"JK?"
"Hm?" He opens a bottle of banana milk and takes a swig.
"Ummm, about last night..." I begin quietly. "I hope I didn't make you uncomfortable or do anything you didn't like. I know we should've discussed your limits beforehand and I'm sorry for that. Actually, I'm sorry for all of it. I know you probably felt put on the spot."
