The sounds only seemed to increase as they came closer, and from what he could gather was that it was one individual. Mamba continued to watch, being on high alert for he didn't know if this creature was a threat or not.
Mamba was good at telling if it was one beast or an entire pack, all thanks to his own experiences.
Thankfully he and his pack were in a cave, and who ever this creature was didn't seem to notice them quite yet. Mamba slowly stood onto his feet, his long tail up to maintain his balance as he slowly moved to the mouth of the cave which was their den.
What are you?
His thoughts were very loud in his cranium when he asked this to himself.
Being a pack leader now, he knew that he must protect his pack from harm. Which was a large step in the right direction, after all he and his actions have changed from how he use to be. He still couldn't believe that Nimbus made him see things differently from back then.
Still he was glad to have changed, for it made him stronger. Not that he would openly admit it just yet. Besides, he had to watch this intruder for if he doesn't it may bite them later in the rear.
Mamba was aware that there was other predators out there, who were stronger and bigger than him. He had a pack which gave him strength, but some beasts were strong all on their own and he had to be on the highest of guards.
This intruder looked to have had a limp to their step, but their size rubbed him the wrong way. They were much bigger than him, and that made him feel greatly uncomfortable. Considering that his offspring were easy targets to some beasts.
Narrowing his eyes on his target, he could see that they had a horn on their nose. Just that sight alone made him show his fangs for only a split second.
This was a horned predator that much he knew, for it was a ceratosaurus. These beasts were also known to form some kind of packs, not that he saw them do that himself. These beasts he knew bits and pieces of all thanks to Nimbus.
That elder knew so much about different creatures, as well as knowing more about them only cause he watched them from afar. He was cunning as well as he was sly, and Mamba knew that just by getting to know the elder better.
Nimbus was always the sort to watch from a safe distance, and here Mamba was watching this large limping predator from a distance. If Nimbus was to awake to see him acting like Nimbus, he may never shut up about it. After all, he loved being right about everything.
Elders sure loved being right all of the time.
Mamba merely shook his head silently, trying to rid his thoughts of meaningless things. Now was not the time to think of stupid things, now was the time to watch this beast closely and decide if he should wake up the pack or not.
Once he saw the large ceratosaurus lay down a good ways from their den, did he back up into his den to wake up the others.
Mamba woke up Adonis first, and rolled his eyes at Adonis who groaned in displeasure. He knew that he loved sleeping in, and that be the reason why Mamba wakes him up first at times.
"So early...", grumbled Adonis who gave Mamba a not to happy look.
"Get up, we got company.", snorted Mamba as he walked over to the sleeping Nimbus.
Adonis blinked the sleep out of his eyes at the word "company". "Who?"
"A ceratosaurus.", curtly replied Mamba.
Adonis blinked fast at the response, not long after that did he feel a chill run down his back. "Oh great! A big guy!"
Mamba merely nodded after Adonis spoke up, Nimbus on the other hand stood up and looked at the mouth of the cave. His expression seemed to be void of thought, which was a new look on the elders face. Usually the elder didn't show any kind of discomfort or worry but right now he definitely showed it. "Is there only one?"
