wish you'd, wish you'd come over

The singing of Tyler rang through my ears as I turned up the volume bar on my old beat up earbuds. Sadness flowed in my body as I listened to the music.

Jack hadn't been talking to me a lot lately which made me ache all over at the thought of loosing him. I know he's busy working but all I can think of is the thought of what I might've done wrong.

Slow sighs slip from my breath as I stare at the ceiling as the lights surrounding my room glow red in the dark spaces.

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day and all I can think of is being surrounded by couples being mushy and cute, halls covered in cliche decor and the dance filled with warmth of couples holding each other close, waving with the crowd slowly to the heart throbbing song.

I'll have to spend the dance alone in the corner alone and sad, praying no one else asks me to dance. Offers are sweet but no jack.. there's a difference.

Dancing with a stranger is awkward, sweaty and you both secretly hope for it to be over.. but jack? His calm honey brown eyes reassuring every little thing you do is ok. He makes you feel safe no matter who you are to him, I'm so lucky.

I close my eyes as my heart pounds at the idea of the dance alone.

I push back the doors of the dance a sudden red glow of light cascading onto my face, music booming through the walls, people jumping and singing along. I let out a sigh as my eyes surf the crowd until they lay on a small group of three.. my friends. I walk over in a beautiful purple dress with a train decorated with beautiful gems and jewels glimmering in the lights. We all dance like goofs.

Soon, the lights dim... the music slows...

Teens group up and sway close.. I'm closed in.. alone. I feel small I can just feel my heart beating and my throat gulping I crouch down into a ball of fear and sadness, the room felt like it was spinning quickly the music booming louder and fuzzier. But it.. actually was?

Boom

My eyes flutter open as I quickly sit up as the morning sun burns into my eyes with a sudden squint. A dream? Thank god that mess was a dream. I would of never gone back if it wasn't. But of course I have to get over it and get ready for the actual disaster.

I throw on some clothes and pack my makeup and dress into my bag since I don't have a ride home to get ready for the dance.

At school.

I hold the straps of my bag as I walk in and head to my locker, putting my coat in it and heading to my classes.

After school cause who likes classes.

Once the bell sounds through the school I head to the bathroom quickly, popping the old earbuds back in.

Summer depression, there's so much time to question my life

I grab the rusty metal handle of the biggest stall and quickly shut it, awkwardly taking off my clothes.. I don't think there is a non awkward way to change in a bathroom stall at school.

I put on a knees length red dress with spaghetti traps.. nothing exciting but it's nice. I French braid my hair and sprinkle some sliver glitter I found in a old craft bin in my room in my hair.

I pull out red lip gloss and apply it along side some mascara with a sad smile.

Time really goes by slow when you're sad.

I quickly switch out my beat up converse with some small heals since I'm not trying to be some quirky Bella.

I push open the squeaky gym doors too look around the room.
"Hm."
Not as pretty as it was in my dream..

I weave through people and finally reach my few friends and smile. "Heyy!" I roll on my heels with fake excitement. We dance around as students roar to the music and girls making tik toks in the corner. Red lights stroll the crowd as we all dance stupidly.

The night was surprisingly fun when you and your friends all don't know how to sing or dance.

F/n jumped in hands with me as we screamed the lyrics and mumbled some we didn't know.

As time flew my nightmares came true... the lights weren't wild, the slowed. The crowded wasn't roaring anymore but calm in place as the music played softly.. all my friends paired up with people I looked around for f/n . I was shocked at the sight! She was dancing with her crush Maia. I felt horrible at how lonely I was but couldn't help but smile and just feel good for f/n. I mean at least she was having the time of her life like a scene out of a movie. The light on them looked like gorgeous photo.. my heart felt so happy yet so full at the same time. I was so distracted by their slow dancing of love I didn't even notice I was just standing in the middle all alone.

Eventually  I let out a sigh of lonesomeness I feel way too often. I look down and turn out to head for the sad corner of people.

Bam.

Of course I run into someone if my day couldn't be any worse. Here we go with the arguing I'll just get it over with grea-

"Y/n care to dance?"
