Landon followed behind Jax into Alaric's office. It was a big office that used to be a bedroom. The whole school used to be a mansion owned by the Salvatores. Damon Salvatore gave the mansion to Alaric and it's been used as a school ever since. Alaric took off his jacket and hung it on a coat rack as they walked in.

He started to explain to Landon, "No one in Mystic Falls knows much about us. We blend in, just enough... Participate, contribute, just enough..," Hope kept the door open for Landon to walk in and closed it behind him, "Keeps people from asking too many questions."

Jax hated the way that everyone had to act if there were normal people in the school, which happened rarely. It was mostly just games where they had to pretend because that was the only contact they ever had with the town. To everyone in the town, the Salvatore School was a private school for the rich and bratty. Not everyone could get into the school. There was also a rumor that if you tried to get inside late at night, you would never come back out again. It was just stupid enough to be funny.

Landon looked at Alaric, "What is there to know, exactly?"

Alaric gave a knowing glance to the two girls by the door. Jax only shrugged and made a head gesture to just rip off the bandaid. Alaric did so, "Well, I used to have a speech prepared, carefully unpeeling the layers of mystical history, but it turns out most people have read Harry Potter and are actually cool with me skipping the tee-up." Alaric sat down in the chair behind his desk.

"You're a school for magic?" Landon asked incredulously. He took Alaric sitting down as a cue to sit down as well.

Jax leaned over to whisper to Hope, "I thought the floating girl in the hallway would make it obvious." Hope shrugged in response. Jax hadn't known Landon for long, but she could already tell that he was slow when it comes to figuring things out.

"We're a school for the supernatural," Alaric specified, "Which covers a lot of territory. Everyone here has something that makes them special in ways the outside world wouldn't understand." The man let out a little sigh at the end of his explanation.

It was hard to hear, but Jax knew it was true. If anyone non-supernatural found out about vampires, witches, and everything else... They would not take it too lightly. They would try to use them for their own personal gain or try to kill them out of fear. Regular mortals would just never completely understand everything that she sees every day. It was one of the reasons that Alaric made this school with his friend Caroline. To keep the supernatural safe from the outside world. It was basically the equivalent to Camp Half-Blood, except it wasn't a camp and the only demigod here was her.

Landon looked like he couldn't believe it. The shock was written on his face very clearly. He turned his gaze over to the girls and asked them, "So, what are you two?"
