The car ride was basically silent except for some small talk here and there. Neither of them could take being in complete silence. Jax still felt a little sad, but she tried her best to push it away so she could focus on the task at hand. Soon enough, they had made it to their destination. It was a cabin out in the middle of the woods. It gave Jax the creeps a little bit as it looked completely dark inside. Inside was Dorian and the dryad, who was trapped inside a circle with a chair and table. She was standing in the sunlight, basically glaring at Dorian.
"Uh, anything yet?" Alaric spoke up as he walked in after Jax. He had a book in hand as he glanced warily at the dryad. Jax, instead of treating the dryad horribly, gave her a smile and a small wave. She wanted to come off as less intimidating than the other two because she would most likely be more open in talking with her.
"Just some light judgment..." Dorian didn't take his eyes off of the dryad for even a second.
Looking up from his book, Alaric took a moment to study the creature before them. She had a greenish hue to her skin and there were leaves and vines covering her. Jax had to admit that she was very pretty. A sudden tap on her shoulder shocked Jax. She jumped a little and turned to whoever touched her. It was Alaric. He gestured for her to start striking up a conversation with the dryad. She nodded.
Jax made sure to take small steps forward so she didn't scare her. She gave a grin to the dryad, "Uh, hi. I've heard that you're a dryad," The dryad looked surprised that Jax knew what she was. "I know from experience that dryads are gentle creatures," The dryad started to walk toward Jax, not being able to get very far because of the boundary spell. Jax looked at the dryad directly in the eyes to show she was being truthful, "I just want you to know, as a demigod," Jax rested a hand on her chest, "We are not here to hurt you and we are not your enemy. All we are needing is answers, okay?"
Thankfully, the dryad seemed to trust Jax a little. Though, the same couldn't be said about Alaric and Dorian. She shot pointed glares of suspicion at them with narrowed eyes, "Humans are known to lie."
"So are monsters." Dorian rolled his eyes.
As you would expect, the dryad was obviously offended by this. Jax let out a huff and started getting very defensive. She whipped her head around to glare at Dorian herself, "She is not a monster, Dorian!" The man jumped a little in surprise. It wasn't often that Jax raised her voice at someone. "She's a dryad. There is a big difference. Now, let the person with the most experience be the one to talk."
The dryad shot a scathing look at Dorian before turning her attention back to Jax. It was already pretty clear who she was starting to like more than the others. The dryad thought for a moment before finally saying, "There is a man I cherish named Oliver. If you bring him to me, I will believe that you are trustworthy," The dryad glanced over at Dorian, "Or what passes for it among your species," She turned back to Jax, "Only then will I answer your questions."
