If there was one thing that Jax regretted, it was telling her secret to Penelope Park. When Josie and Penelope were dating, Penelope always had a dislike toward Jax. She knew that Jax was hiding something from everyone and didn't trust her because of it. She would always confront Jax about the fact that Jax was hiding something, but would usually drop it after a while. Jax had no doubt that it was because Josie had told her to stop. But now, Penelope knew her secret. And what did she decide to do with it? Tell everyone in the whole school.
This wasn't some type of unprompted action. Penelope didn't do it just to be malicious. The only reason she did it was because Lizzie had taken her humiliation of Penelope a bit too far for the girl's liking so she decided to hit the blonde where it would hurt. By hurting one of Lizzie's closest friends, Jax. So Penelope had told one of the biggest gossips in their whole school about Jax's demigod secret and, soon enough, everyone knew. It reminded Jax of when Clarisse found out that she was a witch. She went and told everyone at camp. The only difference is that the people at camp didn't care while the people at school acted like it was something scandalous.
As bad as it might be to say this, something else had saved Jax from all of the talks about her secret and she couldn't have been more relieved that the heat was finally off of her. It was the fact that Rafael's deceased girlfriend had been brought back to life by the very same person who brought back Alaric's ex-wife and the twins' mother, along with Jax's half-sister. The Necromancer. Sure, Jax was glad that she was no longer being talked about, but she still felt horribly for Rafael... And felt horrible about being happy that she was no longer the topic of conversation.
Seeing as Jax had gone through the same thing as Raf, she felt angry. Angry about the fact that the Necromancer was making someone else go through the same pain that she and Alaric did. She ended up deciding that she was going to go to the cells, where he was being kept, to give him a piece of her mind. On her way there, she ended up bumping into Hope who had been looking for Alaric. The two of them knew he would be with the Necromancer so they decided to walk together to their destination.
"Dr. Saltzman." Hope started.
As soon as they walked in, Jax immediately took notice of the blow torch in Alaric's hand. Her eyebrows raised in surprise, "Are we interrupting something here?" If this was one of the torture methods used to get answers then Jax didn't want to even think about the other ways to get the information they needed out of the Necromancer.
The blow torch turned off as Alaric kept his back to them. The only person that took notice of the two girls was the one person that Jax had been waiting to see. "Oh, there you are, lovely girls," The Necromancer's eyes drifted from one girl to the other. His eyes stopped on Jax. He gave her a taunting grin that made Jax want to get out her dagger and cut his lips off. His eyes eventually moved away from her and landed on Hope, "I was wondering if you'd come visit me again. How's your friend, the one I saw you with earlier, trying to steal an illicit peek at me?"
