Soonhoon
AN: Inspired by a song by Sasha Sloan song called older. Sorry I haven't been posting.
"The older I get, the more that I see. My parents aren't heroes, they're just like me. And loving is hard, it don't always work. You just try your best not to get hurt. I used to be mad but now I know, sometimes it's better to let someone go, It just hadn't hit me yet, the older I get..." Jihoon hears his voice break as he stares desolately at the ceiling, his guitar feeling a little heavier than before. The room is barely lit, his bedside lamp struggling to glow. Trains moan outside and Jihoon remembers how as a child he would clamp his hands over his ears and just wait for the silence to befall the world. But it never does. His parents are always fighting, even at ten at night their still going, and Jihoon is getting so tired. He wants to pack up and go, but he doesn't want to tell his mother, it'll make her worry. And where would he go? His phone vibrates and he ignores it, but it persists. "Jihoon?" Soonyoung's familiar voice fills in line, and Jihoons feels his heart warm up. "Yeah?" Jihoon strums a chord gently, making up lyrics as he stares out the window. 'Still up eh? How's life? My school sucks, I hate all the homework." Jihoon smiles. Soonyoung is always complaining about school, but deep down he loves it. And he's so lucky to be able to. Jihoon glances at his last school certificate on the wall, his high school one. He dropped out after that to help out with his family. But Soonyoung got to go to university. He got to study, to get a decent job, to live, be free. He lives in a house of no yelling. Wouldn't that be nice, Jihoon thinks bitterly. "Jihoon?" Soonyoung asks, and he realises he had been zoning out. "Hm?" He says, sandwiching his phone between his ears as he grapples for a pen at his bedside table. Scribbling down song lyrics, he sighs. "I'm happy for you Soonyoung, I really am.. I hope you have a good time in school tomorrow, or is it today?" He peeks at the clock. It's one am. Soonyoung picks up his sadness. "I'll...call you some other time?" It was a question, so Jihoon hums a small, "Mhm", and hangs up. He sighs again, studying a crack on the ceiling. The older he gets, the more that he sees.
