Everyone liked Bella. She seemed super nice, and she said a lot of things to make my parents love her. I think I'm the only one who notices something odd about her.

She just seems so... I don't know what word I'm looking for. Fake, that's it. She seems fake. Her smile seems forced and to me it seems like she doesn't want to be here. I'm really smart, and I can always tell when someone is pretending to act a certain way. I just get this vibe from her that isn't too good.

I barely say anything while at dinner. When I'm about done with my food, my phone buzzes on my lap.

Even though my mother has a rule where we can't have our phones at the table, I glance down at it anyway. I try to be secretive about it but when I see Shawn's name on the screen I almost gasp. He finally messaged me, but it was on Instagram once again.

Shawn: hey

Andrea: hi

I look up to see if anyone noticed that I'm on my phone, and I'm not surprised they haven't. Sometimes, when people don't pay attention to you, it can be a good thing.

Shawn: I miss you

My heart does something weird when I read that, and my stomach feels like it just flipped upside down. What does this mean?

Andrea: what do you mean

Shawn: I mean , I miss you. We haven't talked in a few days.

Andrea: i tried to message you on kik but it said you disconnected or something.

Shawn: I deleted the app.

Andrea: oh...

Shawn: yeah

Andrea: is something wrong?

It took him a while to respond after that. It actually took him so long that everyone was done eating and now visiting in the living room.

When he finally did message back, I decided to excuse myself so I could go up to my room.

Shawn: Yes

Andrea: you can tell me if you want and i'll try my best to help.

Shawn: Okay . I dated this girl for two years, her name is Bella

Shawn: she's beautiful

Shawn: I loved her

Shawn: I still love her

Shawn: I don't know what to do andrea

Shawn: I can't stop thinking about her

Shawn: I've never been one to cry over things but now I can't stop

This weird feeling happened again to my heart, but this time it sort of ached. I also had no idea what to say to him. I've never dealt with something like this before, and I know I won't be able to help. I start to type back but more messages pop up from him.

Shawn: I'm sorry

Shawn: I hate myself

Shawn: You probably don't care I'm so sorry for blowing up your phone too ugh

Andrea: shawn

Shawn: What ..

Andrea: it's okay

Andrea: idk what to say

Andrea: i seriously suck at everything i can't help people i feel so worthless rn

Shawn: Don't say that

Andrea: wait you said her name was bella?

Shawn: Yes

Andrea: what does she look like?

Shawn: I'll send you a picture of her in another message hold on

Seconds later i got another picture from him and it all came together.

Bella is Cameron's girlfriend.

Bella broke Shawn's heart.

Andrea: wow... she's gorgeous.

Shawn: Yeah she is :(

Andrea: i've never seen her before

Shawn: You haven't ? Because she posted a picture with this dude not very long ago, and when I went to his profile you were in one of his pictures . That's how i found ur insta

Andrea: weird

I sigh and set my phone down. I didn't know how to respond to her so I chose not to. I haven't really been talking to anyone lately, but I got the sudden urge to text Andrea.

About a half an hour later, Andrea sent me a message.

Andrea: :(

Shawn: What's wrong?

Andrea: you didn't reply to me

Shawn: I'm sorry. I really don't like this Instagram messaging thing.

Andrea: give me your number.

I grinned at my phone. She's finally going to give me her number. Well, I'm giving her mine. Same thing. It was odd because I have barely smiled these past two days until I talked to her. She's not that nice, but I feel like she kinda cares.

That's all I want right now, someone who cares.
