Chapter 18 - Mother/daughter day out

Alex POV

After her confession, she leaves the door open and walks back into her apartment. That's my cue to go in.

"Why would mother do that?" I ask.

"Because she is who she is."

"Tell me everything that happened. I wanna know the answer to the question that has been troubling me all these years. I was heartbroken when you left. I usually sneak to your house, but every time I went there, I'll be met with a locked door and empty house. At first, I thought you guys had gone on a vacation but when you never returned, I lost all hopes"

"Can...can we talk about this some other time? I..I don't think I wanna talk about it now..please?" She looks lost in her thoughts and her eyes are filled with sadness.

"Okay. Fine....I got you these. I'm sorry for hurting you and for bringing that up" I present the gift to her.

"It's fine...what's in the box?" She smiles as she takes it from me.

"See for yourself" I grin.

"Okayyy....." She carefully unwraps the gift box. "Oh my God" she takes a look at the bracelet with her name engraved on. Elisa. She later brings out the blue glittering dress from the box
She looks up at me, smiling as tears run down her cheeks. I quickly wipe away the tears from her beautiful face.

"What happened? Don't you like it? If you don't, its fine I'll-"

"You still remember my favorite color" she gives me a warm hug and I hug her tight like my life depends on it. I don't want to ever forget how it feels to hug her.

"Do you like it?"

"I love it. Its perfect Xan"

"You still remember that?" I laugh at the pet name she normally called me, which I hated, but now, I'll do anything to hear her call me that again.

"I never forgot anything about you, Xan" she smiles.
I spend three quality hours with Elisa before heading back home. We talked, laughed, drank and made love.

Don't look at me like that......
She's my long lost love.

.......

"Al? What're you thinking about?" Aria asks me.
I almost forgot she was here.

"Uh..nothing...yes... mum asked that you go pay her a visit tomorrow. I reply as I kiss her neck.

"Sure. I'll love to spend some time with mum" she smiles as she softly moans my name.

Aria's POV

Surprisingly, Dr Ramirez said I could stay back home today too so that means, I'll be able to go see mother in-law.
After spending almost an hour in the bathroom, I finally get dressed, after applying my makeup. I put on a black jean pants and an orange t-shirt. I put on my sneakers and arrange my hair, my hair falls on my back.

I get into my car and make my way to the Stein's mansion.

"Aria! My sweet daughter" Kathryn, Alex's mother pulls me into a hug.

"Mother" I greet her.

"You look adorable dear" She holds me at arms length to take in my outfit.
I didn't think I should overdress, so I decided to look casual.

"Thank you.  You look good yourself" Kathryn is a very beautiful lady. She has a light tan and glowing skin. She's looks perfect on her yellow dress.

"Come in, let's get in honey" she leads me into the house

"So what do you suggest we do?" She asks as we take our seats on the couch.

"It's up to you" I shrug.

"Okay, I was thinking we go to the spa, then the mall to do some shopping...what do you think? We can also grab lunch"

"That'll be perfect" I smile.

"Okay. I'll just got get dressed. I'll be back real soon" she grins and makes her way to the stairs.
But she looks okay in her yellow dress, I wonder why she would want to change..

Minutes later, Kathryn comes back, looking much younger than her age. It takes me sometime to realize she dressed to match with my outfit, black jeans, orange top and sneakers.

"How do I look?" She squeals.

"Wow...you look amazing. Like my twin" I grin as i pull her into a hug.

"I know right? I look 22" she laughs.
"Common twin, let's head out and rule the place."

We get into Kathy's car and we make our way to the spa. After an hour or two at the spa, we head to the mall. We receive so many compliments from people, talking about how good we look in our matching outfits. Kathy would flip her hair and say "Like mother, like daughter"
We took so many selfies, my hair looks as good as new and I love my newly manicured nails.

We get into the mall, i offer to carry the trolley, but Kathryn refused, asking one of the workers to carry it. Thirty minutes later, the second trolley is almost full. Kathryn practically picks anything she thinks is nice for me, even those that are unnecessary. Whenever I told her I wouldn't need something she had picked, she would say I might need it someday.

As we go to the next line, a girl accidentally bumps into Kathy.
"Hey you! Watch were you're going" she pushes her a little..the girl looks familiar. Her head is facing the ground. "You almost ruined my shirt." Kathryn glares at her and I touch her right shoulder, trying to calm her down.
The girl looks up and its Nora.
"S..."
"Nora" I grin and pull her into a hug.
"You guys know each other?" Kathryn's voice softens.
"Yes mum, this is Nora, my best friend. Nora this is Kathryn, my mother in law. You guys must have met before, in the wedding, Nora was my maid of honor" I gush out

"Oh...yeah." Kathryn smiles. "Nice to meet you Nora" she shake hands with her.

"Uh...you too ma'am" Nora nervously smile. "Aria, how've you been?"

"I've been great, how about you?"

She nods her head and gulps. "Good, I just came to get a few things" Kathryn clears her throat. "Okay..uh.. I'll go now. Bye Aria, Bye Kathryn" she smiles and leaves

"She looks kind of familiar..I don't know where I've seen her." Kathryn says as we continue our shopping.

"You must have seen her in the wedding and she also attended same highschool as Alex and I" I tell her

"Oh...yeah, I've seen her a few times with you"

"Yeah"

"This dress looks nice, why don't you try it" she picks up another dress

"Uh mother,  this is like the hundredth dress I'm trying." I whine

"Common baby, go try it on. Alex would love it" she winks.

"Ugh!" I lazily walk to the dress room.
