Chapter 35 - Bad Guy

"Do you, Mr Kevin Ashfield, take Miss Riley Norman as your lawfully wedded wife, to love and to hold, in sickness and in health, through thick and thin, To forsake all women and cleave to her as thy wife, till death do you part?" The Pastor asks.

The big church is filled with beautiful and handsome guests, the aisle is decorated with white roses . The guests all stand up when I step in and the music begins
........

I inhale sharply at that memory.
I don't want to remember that.....I quickly swallow the lump that was beginning to form in my throat.

"I do" Kevin smiles at Riley, like she's the most beautiful and precious thing he had ever seen.
I smile sadly.
I also used to look at someone with that same adoration in my eyes.
Thinking back at it, I really was stupid and foolish.

I flinch a little as I feel Carl's fingers intertwine with mine. I look up and he gives me an assuring nod and smile. I squeeze his hand a little and return the smile.

After Riley had said her vows, they were finally joined together, as one.

"Congrats friend, I'm so happy for you" I hug her. "And you, don't ever hurt her, because if you do.....you don't wanna hear what I'll do to you"
Believe me when I tell you I meant every single word I said. From everything that has happened to me, I don't even think Empty threats is in my dictionary.
The last thing I want is for another one of my friends to go through what I went through.

"I honestly don't wanna know, because I won't give you that chance. I will protect and love Riley" he kisses her palm. "With my life"

"That's good to hear" I smirk.

I sit at a corner, with Carl by my side. Riley looks so happy as she dances with Kevin.
A happy smile sits on my lip as I take a sip from my glass.
Not too long after, I feel someone lightly tug my arm.
I look down only to meet the brown eyes of Trinidad, Nora's Grandmother.

"Aria, can we talk for a minute?"
I look at her, surprised.

"Why? So you can humiliate me again?" I raise my brows.
She sadly sighs and shakes her head.

"No. I'm really sorry about that. Please, let me just have some minutes with you"

Carl gives me a questioning look like you say 'do you need help?' I reply with a reassuring smile.
I can take care of this.
I was caught unawares earlier today, but now, I'm prepared for whatever she'll throw at me.

We quietly walked to a more secluded place. A beautiful sight if I must say, the dark blue water, the fresh sea breeze hitting my face.

"What do you want?" I ask a little too harshly, but after everything that has happened, I regret nothing.

"Aria Please....please get El...Nora out of there... I know I have no right to ask you this, but...please"

"Elisa betrayed me. In a way I never thought was possible."

"Y...you know?"

"I do. I know everything she hid from me." I turned around to finally face her. "Your granddaughter hurt me! She betrayed me! She made me lose my innocent child! My baby! I never even got the chance to hold my child in my arms and you want me to forgive her?" I yell.

"No! I..I'm not asking you to forgive her, I know what she did was wrong, I will not defend her. But please, just drop your charges-"

"Drop what?" I scoff. "The judgement has been given already! She stays in jail and there's nothing I can do about it"
