Chapter 26 - Broken trust💔

I just stand there. Dumbfounded is an understatement. The two didn't even notice my presence in the room and that body looks awfully familiar and I so pray it is not what or who I think.
They were too focused on each other.
I carefully took a seat opposite them, anger radiating off me. I honestly don't know how I was able to be this calm. Although my tears were flowing down my cheeks, I stayed silent.

"Alex. I love you so much" she says and immediately I recognize the voice and shoot up from my seat. That's when the quickly jumped away from each other.

"Aria!" Nora says, shock very evident in her voice.
I stand, unable to say anything.
She quickly organizes her dress.
"Aria I'm so sorry." She walks to hold my hand. "I didn't--"
I honestly don't know how, all I know is that my hand silenced her, sending her to the floor. She abruptly gets up.

"Aria--" Alex starts

"Shut up! Shut up! Shut UP!" I snap.
"Just shut the fuck up. You disgusting pigs" My lips start to quiver.

"I trusted you" I begin to walk closer to Nora. "Even if my trust in Alex wasn't as much, Nora I trusted you!" My voice drops and rises.
"I took you in, like a sister. My family sponsored your education all because you were someone I used to call my best friend. You were like a sister to me. God! How could I be so stupid? How?! FOR GOODNESS SAKE I TRUSTED YOU NORA COLESON AND THIS IS HOW YOU PAY ME BACK? BY SLEEPING WITH MY HUSBAND BEHIND MY BACK??!" I yell and another slap lands on her cheek.
I walk up to Alex.
"And you? You moron. I can't believe you did this. So you left me all because you were having an affair with my best friend? You are so disgusting! The both of you! I begged you Alex! I fell on my knees and begged you like a beggar. Me! Aria Yvette Belleville!" I slump onto the chair, bury my head into my palms and started sobbing.
What is this? This should be a fucking dream.
"Aria I'm sorry" Nora crawls to me, crying crocodile tears.

"SORRY? FOR WHAT EXACTLY? For sleeping with my husband?" I rise to my feet. "You both will pay!" I say as I storm out of the room.

"Aria" she runs after me "Aria Please wait!"
I don't reply her, I just keep walking.
"Aria" I hear Alexander call me. "Please hear us out"

"Hear what? Huh! What? How my husband and best friend have been having an affair?" I yell for other employees to hear.

"Aria it's not what you think!" Nora says. I try to walk into the elevator, but she blocks my way.
"Fine, I'll take the stairs" I reply as I walk towards the stairs, but they still run after me.
"Aria, please just listen. We won't take much of your time" Alexander says.
"Aria it's not what you think. I love Alexander" Nora says.
"How dare you say that to my face" I walk towards her and begin to hit her.
"I hate you Nora! I hate you"

"Aria stop it!" She tries to push me away, but I refuse to stop.
"Aria" she finally pushes me away from her and I never knew I was standing at the edge of the stairs.
I try to stop myself, but I wasn't close to the railings, so I fell really hard, rolling on the flight of stairs.
"Aria" I hear Alex yell my name, as he runs after me.

Nora's POV

Ari's looks really hurt. Of all the instances I've thought of her finding out about us, never have I ever thought it would happen like this.

Her, catching us red handed in his office.
How could I let her find out like this.
I keep running after her, begging her to listen to me, just once, but she refuses. I even stop her from using the elevator, but she stubbornly walked towards the stairs.

"Aria it's not what you think. I love Alexander" I try to explain, not knowing I was saying the wrong words, which only ignited her anger

"How dare you say that to my face" she walks towards me and begins to hit me, anywhere she could lay her hands on, she keeps on hitting and yelling.
"I hate you Nora! I hate you"
This is the very first time she's telling me she hates me and she actually means it.

"Aria stop it!" I try to push her away, but she refuses to stop.
I use all my might to push her away.
"Aria" I say.
Little did I know she was standing at the edge of the stairs.
I swear I didn't mean to push her.

She tries to grasp something to steady herself, but she wasn't close to the railings, so she fell really hard, rolling on the flight of stairs.
My heart drops.

"Alex do something" I begin to panic.
Almost no one used the steps, so the hallway leading here was kind of empty.

"Aria" Alex yells her name, as he rushes to help her.
He skips steps, just to stop her from rolling.
I run after them.
When he finally stops her, her head is covered in blood and she looks lifeless.
I see something strange. Blood on her legs.
Could it be.....No! It can't be. This can't be.
"Alex, we need to take her to the hospital. She's bleeding" I rush out.
"Yes..yes" he carries her in his arms in bride style.

Few minutes later we arrive at the hospital.
Aria looks so lifeless.
God please don't let her die.
We run beside her as the doctors pull her with the stretcher
"Aria please don't leave us. "Please stay with us, please. I'm sorry." I sob.
"You can get mad at me, hit me, slap me, but please don't leave me. I'm begging you."
"Aria. Please fight for your life."

"I'm sorry, but you can't continue from here" a nurse tells us as she closes the door to the operation room.

Silence reigned between us.
A threatening silence.
I slide down the wall and sit on the floor.
"Alexander what do we do?" I ask, not turning to face him.
"I seriously don't know" he replies in an aggrieved tone.
"What if she dies?" I whisper.
The thought hits me for the first time.
What if I loose my best friend?
Well, I know I might still loose her if she...when she makes it.

"She will make it. She has to" Alex replies.
"Alexander I'm so scared" I whisper. He holds my hands and squeeze then, probably trying to assure me, but my fear was getting worse each second.
"Don't be. Aria will be fine."

"If anything happens to her--"
He silences me with his index finger on my lips.
"Shhh! Nothing would happen"
"I have to call a family member of hers" he says.
"What would you tell them" I look at him.
"I...I don't know. She fell down the stairs will do"
"So who will you call?"
He thinks for a minute, then replies.
"Mark. He's the closest here"he says as he stands to his feet and dials Marks number.

After a while he comes back. I was already seated on a chair. He takes a seat beside me.
"So?" I ask.
"He's on his way"
I nod and we seat in silence. Not too long after, a doctor walks out of the room.
"Doctor how's she?" Alex asks.
"Are you related to the patient?" The doctor asks.
"Yes. She's my wife" he replies.
Of course, she's still his wife. He hasn't annulled their marriage yet.
"I'm so sorry sir, but It looks like she lost the baby and she's also suffering from internal bleeding. We need a blood donor. She has lost so much blood and if we are not fast, we can loose her"
The doctor says.
Baby.....
Aria was pregnant. I seat back in shock.
This is all my fault. If I hadn't pushed her, if I had stayed away from Alex, all these wouldn't have happened. I killed Aria's baby
Oh God!
I break into sobs.

"I can't donate. Our blood type don't match" I hear Alexander say to the doctor.

"Aria was carrying my child" Alex says, horror clear in his voice. "My child is gone" I see a tear roll down his cheek.
"I...I'm so sorry. This is all my fault" I sob. He doesn't say anything. He just sits there with his hands running through his hair.

"Alexander! Where's my sister?" That was Mark and Everly was with him.

"She's in the surgical room right now. They need a blood donor" Alex tells him.

"I will donate" Mark says as a nurse directs him to the place where his blood will be collected.

Everly stays back. "What really happened to Aria"

"She....she fell down a flight of steps." I nervously reply.

"I just pray she will be fine" she sighs as she sits down beside me and runs her fingers through her hair.
