Chapter 30 - The loner

Nora's POV

The next morning, I wake up with serious pains on my neck.
The chair on which I slept, wasn't so comfortable. I stretch my tired limbs.
I stink. I need to have a good shower.
I walk over to the bathrooms here in the hospital.

I pray I don't get infected or something. This might be a good hospital, but you can never be so sure.

After taking my bath, I get dressed in same old clothes; a black T-shirt, blue jeans and sandals.

I need a change of clothes. These clothes are dirty and smelling...Hell, I don't even have a perfume with me.
Before, I always went back home to shower before coming back, but now, Aria has taken back the house.
What the hell was I thinking when I allowed Alexander into my life again?

How long will you keep blaming yourself. I thought you said you will fight for your love? Where is that fighter?

I hear a voice speaking to me.

I dial Alexander's number, and he picks.
"Hello" he answers.
"Alex I urgently need your help." I tell him.
"With what?"

"Look, Aria has claimed back her house and I have no where to stay. I called you, but you didn't pick, so I slept in the hospital last night" I explain.

"Oh my God. She did that to you?" he asks.

"yes she did! I need your help. I need somewhere to stay"

"Nora" he sighs heavily. "We are in a big mess right now, we can't be seen together" he says.

"What mess? She already annulled the marriage!" I yell.

"Yes that's why I am in huge mess. The Bellevilles have stopped partnering with us and my parents are on my neck"

"Alex, I understand, but don't you even care about me? I need you now more than ever" I tell him.

"Fine, I will find you an apartment, but I. can't promise you it'll be anything big, because as things are, I don't even know how but everything I've ever worked hard for...."

I hear him heave a sigh before continuing.
"We've lost so many important shareholders."

"Okay okay fine. Just a place to lay my head, please."

I drop the phone back into my bag, only to see Riley Layla and Everly standing few steps away from me, giving me looks of disgust and disappointment

"Come on, let's go" Everly says as she grabs the other two girls, who seemed ready to cuss me out, by the arm.

Aria's POV

"Yes ma'am, the main reason why Alexander was asked to marry you was because of your family's wealth and influence. The Stein industries was getting bankrupt, so the only way they could save their company was through an alliance." My Private Investigator tells me.

"So that's the reason" I say to myself.
"Yes ma'am"

"And Nora Coleson?"

"According to what we found out, her name used to be Elisa Coleson, but for some reason, she changed it to Nora. She used to live with her grand mother and parents back then in Florida, but when her parents died, they moved to New York."

"And why is that?"

"The Grandmother, Trinidad was paid a huge sum of money to leave Florida"

"By whom?" I furrowed my brows.

"By Mrs Kathryn Stein"

So she has known Nora ever since.
So I was just a pawn in their game.
