Chapter 4 - Titans' territory

(Y/N)'s POV

Seven years had passed and many things had happened. Hanji and Mike were promoted to squad leaders but I was still in the same squad. My roommate was trying get permission to capture a Titan. 'She's pretty stubborn so she won't give it up untill she reach her goal.'
Erwin and I were completely in love with each other but we didn't talk about our feelings. Hanji and a cadet, called Moblit, sometimes tried with tricks to get us together. Well Moblit was just forced into it. He had taken my place, so he was the one who looked after Hanji to don't get herself killed.

I was in the medical room and prepared for the 22nd expedition. When Hanji came in without knock and slammed the door behind her.
"Let me guess. Shadis refused your idea to capture a titan. Right?" I asked and raised an eyebrow. She just nodded. " Come on, When will you give up? You two have been playing this game for years."
"Never! The Survey Corps should find a way to defeate them, but if we don't make experiments on them, then we won't figure out anything." She nearly yelled.
"Do you know what? I'll help you."
"Really?" She asked with wide eyes and a huge smile. "But why?"
"Two reasons. Your tantrums get on my nerves and this idea started to sound interesting." I explained.
"Yahooo!!! Thank you (Y/N)!" She said totally excited. "But we've been arguing about it for seven years with the commander. Do you have any plan?"
"We should ask Shadis' most trusted soldier. If he's on our side, then may we can persuade Shadis about it." I said with an evil grin. Hanji grabbed my hand and dragged me towards Erwin's office. When we reached it Hanji slammed open the door and rushed to his desk.
"Erwiiinn!!! We need your help!" She pleaded him. I closed the door and the blond man looked at me with a questioning look.
"You know what's the scouts' duty, right?" I asked and he just nodded. "Then you know the humanity doesnt't have a chance to win this war, unless we get to know more thing about them." He sighed and leand back in his chair.
"You two want me to speak with Shadis about to capture a titan?"
"Exactly!!" Hanji exclaimed.
"No. It only would took more casualties or worse. I won't help you." He answered calmly and coutinued his work.
"Oh come on! And what If I figure out something that won't require several victim." Hanji whined next to me.
"I said no."
"Arghh!" She yelled and stormed out of the office.
"See you later." I said and ran after Hanji. Erwin didn't have a chance to responde.

When I finally caught up with her I was out of breath. She went in her office and I followed her in.
"Why can't anyone understand that it would be necessary?!" She asked loud. 
"Try to calm down. You have to understand their reason as well."
"Wich side are you on exactly?"
" I don't know yet. I just want less casualties. But I promise If I see a chance to capture on of them without too much cost, I'll help you."
"Thank you." She said with a smile. "Anyway, we got permission to go in the town and visit our family. Will you go?" Hanji asked.
"Yeah, I guess I'll visit my aunt. Do you want to join?" I asked 
"Galdly but where does your aunt live?"
"In Shiganshina."
" Then let's go. It isn't the nearest district." She smiled and we left.

"We're almost there. But first let's by some fruit." I said to Hanji. After we bought the foods we were walking towards my aunt's house but suddenly a boy with short brown hair and greenish eyes stopped us. There was a girl with him. She had black hair and grey eyes. They were around the age of ten.
"You are (Y/N) and Hanji Zoe for the scouts, Right?" He asked excitedly. The girl wasn't interested.
"Yes, we're. And who are you?" I asked him with a kind smile.
"Eren Jagear and she's Mikasa. You are true heroes." He said with a wild smile.
"I'm happy you think that, but we're not heroes." I replied.
"What?! You try to take back the land what was the human's territory a hundred of year ago." Hanji and I looked at eachother and smiled.
"It's nice to know that someone thinks that." Hanji replied
"When I grow up, I want to be like you." He sounded so determined, excited.
"Well Eren you're a brave kid. Good luck with your dream."
"Thank you, (Y/N)"
"Eren we should go. Your mother's waiting for us." Said the girl in a monotone voice.
"It was an honour to meet you." Eren waved to us.
"Take care of yourself, kid." Hanji waved back.
We countinued our way to my aunt.

//Time skip//

3 days had passed and we were standing in a queue. The commander gave us the order so we galloped across the gate. We reached our first basis. There we did our routine. Fill the gas tanks, let the horses rest ect.

A few hours later we countinued our expedition. When we get into a forest titans attacked us. In the beginig the fight was easy because there were only 2 of them. But later more and more came. We were tired but we still had to fight. But suddenly I was hit by one of them and I was knocked against a tree and fell into a bush. My vision was bleary then everything went black.

Hours later I felt hot breath on my face. I slowly opened my eyes and saw my horse. I stood up and saw the sun on the sky was still bright. I noticed a cave and hid in it. My 3DM gear was broken so I took it off. After I finished with that I noticed a deep cut on my upper arm. I whistled and my horse came to me. The supplies were in bags which were attached to the saddle. I took up the gloves and I pulled out some gauze, alcohol and lint. I spilled a little alcohol on a gauze and put it on the wound. It hurt like hell. After that I put an other gauze on the injury and attached with the lint. I heard my stomach growled so I took a little bread from the bag. I felt pretty tired because of the blood loss. A few minutes later I fell asleep.

When I woke up, it was around midnight. I sat in silence I tried to figure out something. I looked at my horse but it wasn't awake. That was the moment when a horrible imagine came across in my mind. 'what if I won't see my friends again? What if they are dead? No. I will go back and see them again.' I couldn't fall asleep again.

When the morning finally came I get on my horse and started to gallop towards the nearest basis. I was on half way when I heard an inhuman scream. I titan was following me. When it got near enough it tried to catch me. I could jump of my horse so the only victim was my horse. The poor animal was laying on the ground in a horrible position. But the horse could get me some time. I had to figure out something pretty fast. Then I saw a tree and I headed towards it. The Titan almost reached me but I jumped to the side and the monster stashed into the tree. The plant droped down on the back of the titan's neck and smashed it. I sighed and countinued my way. But this time on foot.

Everything was a complete mess there. There was blood on everything and the red liquid didn't come from titans. I droped to my knees and felt tears in my eyes.
"By the gods..." I whispered "Just let my friends be alright..." With that sentence I started to cry like I had never done before.
"Damn it!!!" I yelled. There weren't any horse or 3DMGs that I could use to survive. I knew the way will take 2 days to back to the walls.
