Chapter 12 - Another failure

Month later we came back from an other expedition. It had gone horrible. There weren't much survivors and 90% of those who came back were injured. I stayed with the casualties till I heard a woman.
"Moses! Moses! Doctor (Y/N) I can't see my son. Where is he?" He looked at me with worry in her eyes.
"I'm so sorry, ma'am. He was a good soldier." We gave her his son's hand. That was the only part we could bring back.

We arrived back at the HQ and Hanji helped me treat our comrades. We stitched the wounds, treated the dislocated and broken limbs and bones. About two ours later we felt a huge earthquake. Later my aunt came to the HQ.
"(Y/N)! Titans!"
"What do you mean?" I hugged and tried to calm her down.
"They've broken in Shiganshina!" She cried. I grabbed my aunt's hand and lead her to my office and She told me everything. I ordered Moblit to stay and help her.

I went to meet Erwin who was pretty careworn.
"We have a huge problem and I mean it. According to my aunt the titans have got in Shiganshina. There was one of them who was 60 meters heigh."
"What about the people?"
"Many of them died. The Garrisons are tring to stop those creatures and the military police has already evacuated the people behind the Wall Rose." He relieved a little.
"Good. We can't go to help them right now."
"Let me go there and have a better look on the situation."
"Do you want to fight against the titans?"
"No. There's always less doctor than injured people."
"You can't save everyone. How are the soldiers?"
"Don't worry. They'll be fine. Hanji is looking after them."
"Well alright then you can go but If your aunt is well enough, then I need to speak with her." I nodded and left.

//Time skip//

When I got there the people's greetings were divisible. However I couldn't blame them. They've lost too much in a day and the survey corps isn't the most popular military force.
"E-excuse me. M-ms (Y/N)?" I looked at a boy with blond hair and blue eyes.
"How can I help you?" I smiled at him.
"I know you have a lot of work but could you speak with my friends?"
"Of course." He lead me to two kids. They were Eren and Mikasa. I kneeled down in front of them.
"Eren?" He looked at me.
"Those bastards. Those monsters killed my mother. I'll pay everything back!"
"Eren, I know it's hard but you have to calm down and tell me what exectly happened."
"After the corps had come back we went to meet with Armin." He pointed at his friend. "Then out of the blue a colossal titan appeared in front of the wall. It kicked the gate and let the titans in and suddenly it disappeared."
"How big was the titan?" I stopped him.
"About sixty meters. Then I went back to our house and saw my m-mother..." He started to cry and I hugged him. We sat there till he calmed down and countinued.
"We were taken to a boat that brought us here, but we were able to see a titan that broke one of the gates of the Wall Maria."
"How did that titan look like?"
"The cannons couldn't kill nor hurt it. Its skin was like an armour." My eyes widened. I had never seen or heard of a titan like that.
"Do you know anyone who can take care of you?"
"My grandfather has survived too." Armin answered. I nodded and we said our goodbyes then I headed back to the HQ.

When I got back my first way lead to Erwin's office. I knocked, entered and sat down on the chair that was opposite him.
"It's worse than we thought. The humanity lost an other territory. They had got behind the Wall Maria." He sighed. That was clear he didn't know what we should do. "As Eren said-"
"Eren?"
"Yes, A kid from Shiganshina. Well he said that it was like an armoured titan. Have you ever heard of an abnormal like that one?"
"No." He simply replied. "(Y/N), can you leave me alone now?" I nodded and told.
"You know where to find me." As I finished my sentence I left.

I went to my office to meet my aunt.
"Do you know a place where you can go?" She shooke her head. "Then you'll stay here."
"But won't Erwin angry with you?" She asked worriedly.
"I don't think."
"Can I help you with the medical stuffs? I can't live here for free after all."
"Of course. That would be good." I smiled at her. I showed her the room where she can sleep and I went to find Hanji. She was in the mess hall with Levi, Mike, Moblit and Nanaba who was Mike's second in command.
"Hey. What was in the town?" Mike asked and I explained. All of them were shocked.
"How interesting would it be if-"
"Do not even start, Four eyes." Levi didn't let Hanji finish her sentence.
"Just imagine it!" Hanji said.
"You will never make experiments on those titans."
"One day I'll and (Y/N) did you meet with Eren?" I nodded.
"Their mother died and their friend's grandfather will look after them."
"Poor boy."
"Yeah. He still wants to joint to the corps and kill every single titan."
"He must be a brave kid. How old is he?" Nanaba asked.
"He is around ten."
"He saw titans that young and still wants to fight against them. That's the true determination." She praised the kid.
"Or stupidity." Levi commented.
"You also stayed with the corps." Mike reminded him.
"Because I didn't have any other choice." Levi retorted.
"You always have one." I commented and Shorty rolled his eyes. After we had finished with the chatting everyone went to their dorms. I went to the room which was shared by Erwin and me. The blonde man wasn't there yet. I got ready for sleep and layed down on the bed. I had been waiting for him but he didn't come. I went to his office and he was sitting behind his desk.
"Are you alright?"
"Yes I'm just trying to find out something." I went behind him and started to massage his shoulders.
"Come to bed and sleep and when you'll be rested then I'm sure you'll figure out something." He nodded and followed me to our room.
