Chapter 14 - Experiments

Hanji's POV

"Aaaand done!" I yelled as I finished the drawing of the titan traps. "Now let's go to Eyebrows."

I bursted in his office and put the documents on his desk.
"So we could use angled webs to capture them." I was showing the drawings and told everything about the plan.
"We'll keep them hurt and weak while we do experiments on them to decrease the level of the danger. We'll do it with special bonds and angles."
"If you think that it will work, then I'll do everything to help you."
"It will take a few months to have the traps done." I told.
"Let me know when they are done."

//Time skip//

(Y/N)'s POV

Everyone was on the yard.
"As you know this time we have to capture a titan. Squad leader Hanji will explain the plan." She stepped next to Erwin.
"We'll go to the hole in the Wall Maria. There will be four squad. Mine one will be the top of the wall and we'll throw the angled web on them. Levi's and Mike's ones would be ready if something wrong happened. Last but not least Erwin's squad will make sure about the titans' akinesia." Hanji explained the plan.
"You heard her. You have ten minutes before we leave." Erwin said and everyone left after they had saluted.

We got to the Wall Maria and every squad took their positions. Hanji threw the traps on two titans which made us easier to cut their tendons. The web made impossible to them to attack us.  We used the special bonds and the angles. After we had finished we could took them to the HQ. We didn't let our guard down, although they couldn't move.

"I barely can believe that we finally made it!" Hanji said while she was jumping in excitement. "Let's name them first!"
"By the gods, Hanji you're terrible." I said between laughs.
"Once I read about a group of people who ate other humans. Many people became their victims. I will name you after the leaders of the cannibals. From now you're Albert and you're Chiccachironi. Nice to meet you." She said with a calm smile like they weren't the monsters we knew. " Then let's start with the communication. Can you understand me?" There was no response from them. Hanji tried with a few more times but there weren't any results. "Hanji bring the spear. We'll see their reaction about pain and we'll also try to find more way to kill them." Hanji nodded at my sadistic statement. She stood in front of Albert and stabbed the titan in the eye. It screamed in pain. Hanji's determined expression turned in to unsure and sympathetic one. Soon she yelled apologieses and stabbed the titan again. The next time she pulled out the spear I took away the weapon  and stabbed it in the titan's chest where its heart supposed to be. I countinued my actions but it was useless. Later Hanji ordered to build tents around the titans that block the sunlight.

We let them in it the rest of the day and tried to make conversation with them. I was with Albert while Hanji was with Chiccachironi. We had been with them for ten minutes when I heard Hanji.
"Woaah! Albert you almost caught me!" She shouted playfully between laughs. I rushed out of the tent and she was already holding her stomach because of the laugh. Everyone around her was terrified.
"I guess that was enough for today." A said to her.
"Doctor (Y/N) is right, squad leader!" Moblit said. He was as pale as someone who was about to faint. Luckily I was wrong.

//Time skip//

"I hope we can find out something today!" Hanji said while we were walking towards the titans.
"Me too and we have to prove that it wasn't useless to capture them." I added. When we got there and entered in Albert's tent we couldn't see anything except a dead titan. I rushed to Chiccachironi and the same thing happened to that titan as well.
"Noooo! Poor things!" Tears streamed down on Hanji's cheek.
"Hanji! Calm down-"
"How could I?! They are dead! We couldn't find out anything about them!"
"That's not true! They died because they didn't get enough sunlight. It seems it's the only thing that keeps them alive." I explained and she finally stopped crying.
"Then let's report the results." She said with a sad smile.

We knocked on Erwin's door and entered.
"We have a bad and a good news." I started. "Which one do you want to hear first?"
"Start with the bad one."
"Well... Uhm..." Hanji tried to explain the situation and scratched the back of her head. "You know... We accidentally killed the titans"
"Accidentally?" Erwin raised an eyebrow.
"Well yes but it's also the good news. We learnt that they need sunlight to stay alive." I finished.
"I see. It's more than nothing but next time don't kill the captured titans accidentally." He said and returned to his work and we did the same thing.
