Chapter 8 - Hard times

Sorry, to write this chapter took so long. My teachers had gone crazy and gave mountain of homework and don't mention the tests.

(Y/N)'s POV

When we got back to the HQ Erwin's first way lead to Shadis' office. Mike has other things to do so Hanji and I stayed with the new members. We made a little tour around the HQ. Isabel was pretty excited. In one way she remined me of Hanji. She was cheerful with her friends but non of them trusted us. Well neither did I. My best friend tried to start a conversation with them. Levi wasn't too impressed but Farlan warned him to behave.

When we arrived to the offices there we met with Erwin and Shadis. There was no word which could describe the hatred on Levi's face.
"Here is your uniforms. Go change and after that come to the yard." The commander left. Hanji went with the band so they will easily find the yard.
"What are you two planning? I mean you and Shadis." I looked at Erwin while we were walking towards the yard.
"They'll be in Flagon's squad. Tomorrow their training will begin." He replied.
"He won't be happy." I chuckled and also Erwin did.
"I know. Most of the section commanders wouldn't be happy." He told me. Well at that point I was happy that I hadn't been promoted to a squad leader. Before we stepped out the yard I stopped him. He knew what I wanted so he put a hand on my shoulder and kissed my forehead. "Let's go. The others are waiting." My lover said.

The squads were standing in queues.
"Attention! As you can see we have tree new recruits. Introduce yourselves." Shadis said.
The black haired male looked at Erwin. The section commander had a warning expression on his face. Then short male looked at the others.
"Levi." Well, it wasn't a complete introduction but at least he told his name.
"You have to change on your behaviour. Next one!" Shadis said.
"I'm Isabel Magnolia. Nice to meet you!" She said.
"Farlan Church." He tried to salute.
'Maybe the first impression was worse than it should be. They might aren't as bad as I thought. It might be possible to get along with Isabel and Farlan but Levi. He's fairly stubborn.' I thought.
"You are in Flagon's squad from now." Keith said.
"What?! Why aren't they in Erwin's squad?!" Flagon was pretty upset.
"Because he has too much work with the next expedition. I won't change my decision."
"Understood, Sir."
"Good. You are all dismissed."

//Time skip//

It was late at night, although I wasn't tired so I decided to go for a walk around the HQ. There was a hidden place where I could see the beautiful night sky.
"Can I join?" I looked behind me and smiled at Erwin.
"Of course. I thought that you're sleeping."
"I fell asleep while I was doing paperwork but I had a nightmare."
"Do you want to talk about it?" I asked and took his hand in mine.
"It was about you. I saw you join to the others, who couldn't come back behind the walls. I had to watch you die." I listened and pulled him into a comforting hug.
"I won't leave you. Last time I came back to you, didn't I? It won't change in the future either." I pulled away and took his face between my hands. We were looking into each other's eyes. "I promise, we live together and we will die together." He gave me a smile and leaned closer and finally our lips met. His kiss was slow and gentle. It was a perfect moment, but we pulled away because we needed air.
"Thank you." He said and closed me in his emberance. After some time he said "I spoke with Shadis today. He wants me to be the next commander."
"That's amazing! You have been working for this rank since I know you. I'm so proud of you." I had a wide smile on my face.
"It's rare when we can spend some time together like this and if I'll get that promotion, then it will decrease." He said in a disappointed tone.
"We'll solve this problem as we always do." I said and gave a peck on his lips.

About half an hour later we said goodbyes and went towards our rooms. I was on half way when I heard some people discussing. something.
"We'll get the document and kill him."It was a monoton voice. I was sure it was Levi with his friends.
"How do you want to do that? He's the second in command after all, and we're among soldiers who fight against titans. I'm sure they won't hesitate to kill us if we do something." Farlan answered. Those words felt like arrows in my chest. I started to run towards Erwin's room as fast and quiet as I could. When I reached his door I bursted in but to slam the door wouldn't be the best idea so I closed it without any noise.
He looked at me with a surprised look.
"Dear, what's wrong?"
"Those underground rats!" I whisper yelled. "They want to kill you! I told you they are planning something!"
He came closer and hugged me.
"Don't worry. I know." He told.
"What?!"
"I'll tell you everything later."
" All right. I just don't want to lose you. Not yet."
"You won't. You said it yourself. We live together and we will die together." I didn't want to let him go but he pulled away and lead me towards his bed. We laid down and soon fell asleep into eachothers' arms.
