Wonpil was quite scared. He felt like a lot was going on those days, and that he could barely catch up with the news.
When Chan'd told him about everything that had happened the night before (when entire first floor had been flooded), he couldn't have helped but feeling extremely guilty – he hadn't been there to serve his role as a Head Boy; instead, he'd been sleeping peacefully inside his room, completely unawares of the mess that had been going on in the meanwhile.
Chan had tried to reassure him that it was not his fault at all, that he'd just done what he was supposed to be doing at that given moment and that he couldn't have possibly been the reason why it all had happened; but Wonpil still wasn't sold on that: what if something really bad had happened to the students?
"This whole situation remains fishy", he remembered telling Chan the day after at breakfast. It had been hard as the friend was so tired he looked as if he could fall asleep at any moment. "We ought to tell Mrs. McGonagall. This is what she told us to do".
"If you think it necessary", had been the sleepy reply. "Go ahead. It's probably just some student's joke".
"A joke that could possibly harm someone?", Wonpil had shaken his head: he didn't see how that was possible; never in six years at Hogwarts had ever had to deal with a similar matter.
But then again, the friend had looked so small and weak that the Hufflepuff hadn't really felt like bothering him too much. We can wait till he gets better, he'd thought. At the end of the day, it won't be for long.
The noise of a fork falling to the ground had suddenly interrupted his reflections: Chan's tiredness had probably taken over for a few seconds and the boy had not had the strength to continue holding the piece of cutlery, that had fallen loudly on the ground.
"Chan!", had yelled Wonpil, rather worried, "are you sure you can handle a full day of lessons?"
"Do I have an option?" the friend had taken a few sips on his black coffee. "I have Herbology, Ancient Runes, Muggle Studies..."
"Yes, you do have an option and that is sleep", had cut off Wonpil. "Don't worry about the teachers. I'll fill them up with everything that you've done tonight. I'm sure they'll understand".
"I have my doubts about it", had answered the Gryffindor darkly. "It's among the Head Boy's duties to always be prepared to both patrol the corridors and attend classes regularly, so there is no excuse that can support your thesis-"
"'Patrolling' does not include going on swimming marathons at four in the morning!", had screamed Wonpil out of frustration. "Besides, you haven't stopped for one second since we arrived. If we were to count the hours you slept, they'd barely scratch a few days! Now I say – you go sleep, and I go tell the teachers about it. You're no use patrolling if you can barely support the weight of a fork!"
Wonpil had not taken his eyes off the friend until Chan had weakly replied: "Well, all things considered, you are not totally wrong..."
"Thank Merlin, he understood!" had exclaimed the Hufflepuff to no one in particular, but the little Gryffindor sat beside him had still sent him a rather puzzled look.
And so Chan had gone back to his dorms, making the friend promise he'd wake him up when the lessons finished.
But Wonpil, who knew better than that, simply avoided giving a clear answer and left Chan's dorm with the intention of letting the friend sleep as long as the boy needed.
He was therefore not expecting for the Gryffindor to appear at the end of dinner, after less than twelve hours. "I'm sorry I didn't wake you up", he immediately started in an apologetic tone, already fearing for what the friend was about to say, "but you honestly really needed a rest and I thought it'd be best for you to-"
