No, no, no no no.
Jeongin was pretty sure he would explode, sooner or later, was he to keep overhearing everything.
Apparently, having half Hogwarts already be asking him for advice and consequently revealing him their biggest secrets was not enough: he also had to find out about those the other half kept hidden, and most times he did by mistake (or, rarely, chance).
The first was by far the most common situation though, as he had discovered throughout the years: some of those secrets were so embarrassing he would wish to never have heard them – he could live on beautifully even without the knowledge that stern Madame Prince had once made out with Filch, he was sure of that.
Happening to find out about unexpected, but not unpleasant things was considerably harder, but that did not mean that it could not happen at times: once, he'd saved his whole Transfiguration class from an otherwise sure bloodbath, by discovering through a casual teacher's chat that Mrs. McGonagall was going to pull them a surprise test.
The Headmistress had shown rather suspicious handing them, truth be told, but as she had no evidence other than her own instinct she'd found herself no choice but to keep the marks as they were. Still to that very day, Jeongin carried an unexplainable pride for the E he'd got in that test.
Other times, those unwanted and unsearched for secrets could even be incredibly painful: he'd had a taste of that just a day before, when during the match he'd happened to see a girl – sitting a few rows beneath him – silently crying, her gaze fixed on a boy of her own House (they were both Hufflepuffs) chatting lovingly with a honeyed-skin Gryffindor: whether the boy was her biggest crush, or her ex-boyfriend, Jeongin couldn't have told; but he hated to see people suffering and that sight had given him a sour, sad aftertaste.
That blue aftertaste, he had been carrying for the past day and a half, and it had therefore been with that in mind that he had followed his classes during the morning and the early afternoon, and had then set off for the library with his friends to do the homework he needed to get done: Jeongin hated to admit it, but he was just a very sentimental type, and other's moods could often affect his own. The situation, besides, had given him other topics to reflect on: what if, for example, that happened to him? How would he feel? How would he react? Would he ever get past the rejection? and also: Why did such things have to happen? Couldn't people just be attracted solely by their true soulmate? Why would you ever grow tired of your partner?
The homework he had not done too well either, due to the haunting reflections that kept creeping to the back of his mind, making it impossible for him to focus fully.
"Oof", had said Beomgyu after awhile that they had been at it, massaging his belly theatrically. "I'm done! – and starving. I think they are already serving dinner?"
Him and his other friends therefore started packing their things up, but Jeongin was still so behind with his homework that he decided to linger there a little longer to get them roughly done.
"Innie, aren't you coming?" asked Beomgyu when he saw that the boy was not moving.
Jeongin tensed up, but without showing it: he knew he should not act frustrated with Beomgyu, – he'd done nothing! – but that day he felt so nervous he might've accidentally mistreated everyone had he not been able to control himself.
"No Gyu, not yet. I still have to finish a couple things".
"I can wait for you" kindly offered the fellow House-member.
