"Len, hey, Lenny, wake up

"Len, hey, Lenny, wake up."

I groaned. I needed more sleep--

"What the fuck?" I glared at Maze, who had just thrown a glass of water at me.

"Sorry, it was important," he said, not really apologetic at all.

"What?" I asked, opening my eyes. A blanket wrapped around me, but no Dark. He was supposed to be here. Then again I was by far more forgiving, Dark would've ended Maze (or anyone for that matter), for pulling what he just did.

"Look, I don't know if this is true but I was scrolling through my Twitter feed and the only thing anyone seems to be talking about is--well, you." He looked apologetic now. Oh, oh, so it's worse than waking me up in the universally acknowledged worst way to wake someone up.

"All good things, I hope."

"No, Len, you're trending."

I shrugged, unimpressed. Light Beam had been quite popular so I was used to being trending.

He looked at me with a grave expression and started reading from his phone, "Lennox Hampshire, daughter of veteran Superheroes Dex and Allison Hampshire, A.K.A Dynamite and Thorn, destroys Super Tower." He read out. "It gets worse, Len, for all intents and purposes, you broke that damned staircase." Oh. Oh, he meant me.

"Where's Dark?" My heart jumped. This is bad. This is really bad. I can't be a Supervillain? I can't do this. Light Beam, sure. But not me. Lennox Hampshire is a person not a Superhero. Lennox Hampshire wasn't the kind of person who was supposed to be trending.

"He's working for them, like really working for them. They made the official announcement." Maze said emphatically. My brain stopped working for a moment. I couldn't breathe. Or maybe I could? I don't know. I couldn't tell.

"That's a good thing, right? I mean, if all it took was throwing me under the bus--" I rambled. Defending him? I didn't understand why I was doing that? But I was? I wanted him to be a good guy. No, no, not a good guy. I wanted him to be on my side. Whatever the fuck that meant.

"Len. What happened last night? I'm worried we're in a mess we're not going to be able to get out of so easily."

"He's in love with me." I said, waving it off.

"Oh. Oh, that's--oh he's going to die for you." His eyes widened now.

"How didn't you pick up on that?" I raised an eyebrow at him. Well, at least I tried to.

"Guess I wasn't paying attention."

"Maze... Where is he?" I had to see him. Dark's gotta explain this to me.

"It's a big house, he's probably just out by the pool or something. Listen, Lenny, this is going to be very difficult. And I'm going to do things you won't like. Just, don't give up on me, okay. Damage control is not exactly pretty."
