It was just over a week after the boys had finished their summer tour, and me and Aston were sat in the hospital waiting to go in a see a doctor about my cancer.. It was a different doctor to last time, this one was a cancer specialist.
'Miss Smith, Doctor Harrison is ready to see you' the receptionist called out to me. I stood up, linking my fingers with Aston's, and walked to the large red door labeled 'Dr. Harrison'. I took a deep breath before knocking gently, and pushing the door open.
'Aaah, you must be Chloe' she smiled. I was glad she was female, I wasn't too keen on a male doctor feeling me up..
'That's me, and this is Aston' I half smiled, as Aston shut the door behind us.
'Sit down, take a seat' she said. We both pulled out a chair and sat down at the opposite side of the desk from which she was sitting.
'So, we're here to discuss your treatment for getting rid of the cancer you have. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask' she smiled.
'Okay' I said.
'Well, your cancer is still treatable, although it has spread from one breast to the other.. You're going to have to have chemotherapy I'm afraid. It isn't as scary as it sounds though.. What we do is poison your body, just enough to demolish the cancer, without damaging your body too much.. It causes hair loss in most cases, which I'm sure you probably already know.. It can also cause quite violent vomiting and depression, but it's the easiest way to remove the cancer' she explained.
'Okay..' I said quietly, becoming teary eyed. Aston wrapped his arm around me, and squeezed me tightly in my arms.
'So you are okay to go ahead with this then?' she asked.
'Yeah' I sniffed.
'Okay.. Well, your treatment will involve a course of injections, and then we'll have to keep you in overnight to monitor you, and then you'll have to come back eight weeks later, and we'll see if you need anymore injections' she told me.
'Doctor, I have a question..' Aston spoke out.
'Yes?' she smiled.
'Well, me and Chloe were trying for a baby.. Would the chemo harm the baby if she became pregnant?' he asked.
'Studies show that there is no harm to babies if their mother has had chemo whilst pregnant, so you should be fine to carry on trying for a baby' she smiled.
'Okay, well that's good then' I said.
We booked my first chemo session for the following Saturday at 11am.. Aston was staying in overnight with me. I was absolutely terrified, but I knew with Aston by my side, my worries would all fade away.
