Chapter Eight

<Zeref's POV>

"She's really beautiful, isn't she Zeref?" tanong ni Lian.

Nakatayo kami ngayon sa veranda kung saan tanaw mula sa labas si Mavis na nakikipaglaro kay Noodles. Kanina ko pa siya pinapanood, hindi ko lang alam na may susulpot na distorbo.

Hindi ko siya pinansin. Tinuon ko lang ang pansin ko kay Mavis. Tinatanong ko ang sarili ko kung ano mayroon sa babaeng ito para mahumaling ng husto ang Mommy sa kanya.

Hindi pa rin maalis sa isip ko yong napag-usapan namin ni Mommy sa library.

***flashback***

Pagkasara ko nang pinto ay agad akong hinarap ni Mommy.

"Marry Mavis."diretsang sabi niya.
Hah?

"What mom?"

"I said marry Mavis."seryosong sagot niya.

I was speechless.

"Kaya hindi ko mabuyo si Mavis sa mga pinsan mo ay kasi... I was saving her for you, Zeref." Umupo siya sa isang silya. "Kahit hindi mo aminin, I know you like Mavis. She's really quite good at that making people like her in an instant. Akala ko hanggang doon lang yon. Pero when I saw you carrying her when she was wounded by the sea urchins, at kung papaano ka nagreact ng sinabihan ka niyang gwapo, I know there is something. Everything can be different.

"Dagdag mo pa don yong pinagkaguluhan ng mga pinsan mo si Mavis at nagwalk-out ka. All I wanted to say at that time nong palabas ka ay 'it's okay to get jealous, son' instead na yong 'where' you goin', son?'" she chuckled.

"When I saw Mavis for the first time, I saw a daughter. Hindi yong galing sa laman ko, hindi yong daughter na kadugo ko. I wasn't seeing her as your sister, but as a wife, son."
My wife.

But-

"But mom, we don't know her really. What if may asawa na pala siya. What if hanapin siya ng pamilya niya. Don't you think we're defying her with her past?"

Paano nga kaya kung mawala si Mavis sa kanila?

"Son, what if I tell you that for once I wanted to be selfish. I wanted to take risk. Ayaw kong isipin ang mga posibleng mangyari sa hinaharap.

Please, Marry Mavis."

"What if I don't, mom?"

"Hindi mo na ako makikita habang buhay."seryosong sabi niya.

I closed my eyes.

And when I opened it again, I have decided.

"One last question, Mom. Why are you doing this?"

I saw her smiled and walked towards me. And between her hugs she said.

"I just want you to be happy."

***end of flashback***

So now, I was caught off guard.

"Can I court her, Zeref?"tanong uli ni Lian.

I glared at him.

"No." sagot ko at itinuon muli ang tingin ko kay Mavis.She laughed and giggled often. Kahit sa mga simpleng bagay. She's so simple,innocent.. beautiful.

"Why?"

Without breaking the sight to the girl I'm going to spend my life with from now on, I answered him.

"Because I'm marrying her."

The thought of it, now made me smile.
