Everyday

"I was humiliated by all of them again..."
"What do you mean?"
She nibbles her lip before sliding closer to Sera to make sure no one heard them,

"Remember a few months ago I went to the party with my ex-friend Mia?"
"Yeah."
"Well...she turned up at the party that weekend and somehow managed to find a way to get my dress ripped in half, so I went outside to try and fix it only to come back and,"

She swallowed heavily.
"I saw her kissing my boyfriend and having a full snog-fest."

Sera quickly felt the blood rush to her face as she ripped another hole into her hospital gown, glaring daggers at no one in particular.
If she wasn't confined to her bed she would've stormed to that Mia and taught her a lesson or two,
Before she could even comfort Jennifer she had gotten up and grabbed a water bottle.

"Lean your head back and open."

Sera followed the orders given, feeling the cold liquid slide down her throat.
Jennifer stopped after she had a few mouthfuls starting to smooth her blanket and puff her pillow, they were both silent while Rick snorted in his sleep.
She knew she probably didn't want to talk about it but she asked anyway,

"What happened after that?"
"I left, I sent him a text breaking up with him and that's it."
"Didn't he try to come back for you?"

Jen pauses midway of folding the old hospital gown, she seemed to have gone far away in her own mind barely even moving an inch.

"No."
She seemed to break free of her frozen state and gave a small smile,
"Honestly I don't even want to see him, not after they had been like that. Whether he was drunk or sober whether he kissed her or she kissed him...I don't care anymore."

Sera's eyes went wide because as far as she knew, Jennifer didn't just carry around those romance novels in her handbag for no reason and she wasn't exactly shy about her romantic feelings.
But now Jen was grinning ear-to-ear,

"It's actually really freeing!"

She couldn't tell if it was a façade or actual honesty but she chose to believe what Jen was saying, that's when Sleeping Beauty finally awoke licking his dry lips.
"What did I miss?"
"Not much, oh! Rick this is Jennifer, she's pretty awesome for a nurse."

Rick leaned up a little and rubbed his jaw before reaching out, shaking her small hand, he swallowed again.
"Think a spider might have gone down my throat!"
Jen laughed and held out the bottle of water,

"You're just dehydrated, sleeping with your mouth open and breathing from your mouth will do that but don't worry it'll be gone most in about two days."
He flinched at the final words in her sentence, Sera questioned why before realising that was her death date clearly making him want to avoid it at all costs.
