When Rick finally opened his eyes he could hear the ticking of a clock and yawned seeing it was nearly 1 am.
"Finally awake from your beauty sleep huh?"
He nearly jumped out of his skin while Sera giggled, she was sat up in bed writing."Jesus, Mary and Joseph! You scared the hay out of me...what are you still doing up? It's like 1 am in the morning."
She nodded as he spoke before glancing at the clock on the wall in front of them above the curtains,
"I was just waiting I suppose."
"For?"
"I'm not sure..."She seemed thoughtful to him and he pointed out,
"What were ya writing?"
"Nothing."
She covered the papers with her hands and he smirked at her mischievously reaching out to grab it, whispering.
"Show me."
"No!"
"Show meeeeeee!"
He chuckled quietly before staring into her eyes,"Is it a declaration of loooooove~?"
"What!? Ewww no way haha."
He faked a gasp and placed his hand over his heart.
"Could it be you drew love hearts with our names and wrote down how you truly felt about me at long last?! My darling the honour is all mine!"She laughed and shoved the paper under her pillow before sticking a tongue out at him and swatting his hand holding hers,
"Don't be ridiculous you silly man!"
They both chuckled and she could feel the heat in her cheeks start to calm down as they laid back down,Her eyes closed before she peacefully fell asleep.
Rick leaned over to her and pulled the blanket up over her shoulders making sure she was tucked in, he noticed that her bed was moved recently. Not just a little either it had been moved out of the room before he'd even woken up, the marks on the floor made it obvious. He didn't understand why it had been moved, it wasn't as far away anymore which was nice but it wasn't right. She couldn't have gotten up and moved it past the curtain, she looks like she can barely lift up a chair.
He decided not to think about it too much especially since she looked so peaceful in her sleep at that time,"Huh."
He noticed she had a few freckles up close, faint but there.Click. Click. Click. Click.
The faint sound of heels clicking against the tiled-floor made his head snap around, it was a few beds away but he didn't risk it. He laid down again and listened as the nurse checked each patient, She passed him and Sera.
The high heels were silent.
