Don't be

When they both returned to the ward they saw Rick and Pip fast asleep on the bed, the board game in between them.
Sera giggled at the sight and after crawling into her bed picked up Pip while Jen helped carry his head back into his bed on her right side, while the two snored their heads off.
"Thank you, Sera."
"Hm? For what?"
"Everything, being a friend and helping me."
She smiled,
"Don't be, I wish I could do more to help you..."

She glanced at the clock before saying goodnight to Sera, looking back at her before leaving.
"You know,"
Her smile never wavered,
"I remember what you did in school, saving those animals and being kind to everyone...you deserve so much better."

She stamped her card and left the facility after changing into her regular jeans and t-shirt,
Her boots clicking against the ground as she crossed the peaceful road.
When she made it home she dropped her bag to the floor and felt the tears fill her eyes, the photographs of her past eyeing her.
She could feel the eyes that were her own staring into her back from the walls as she sat on the cluttered floor, it had been a while since she did a full spring-clean.

Her eyes drifted to the laptop, open and lit up before she could see her old boyfriend's message.

'From Jordan:
Hey...Um, I'm not quite sure how to say this over text but I get the feeling you may already know, I'm breaking up with you. Hope we can still be mates, bye.'

Her tears flowed down her cheeks in an uncontrollable storm, she could feel her heart twist inside her.
She thought of everything leading up to this moment; the small fights, her parents disowning her, losing her friends because she was a pushover, working two jobs just to pay rent and now losing her baby daddy.

"What did I do to deserve this...? WHAT DID I DO TO DESERVE THIS!"

Photos flew from the walls with a crash on impact, her laptop flashed as it was broken apart and everything around her became a torrent of shattered pieces.
She tried to think of those moments of joy; eating ice cream, partying with her friends, kissing her boyfriend, horse riding for her birthday and every thought returned to her pain, her loss.

In a furious rush, she slammed her hand into her black bag and pulled out a syringe, only to fall against the wall and sit in the spot before and twiddle with the pointed tip.
It would be so easy...

Her mind raced as she placed it to her skin, she knew that one injection would be all it took to obliterate her essence.
Suddenly a flash image of Sera filled her head, how they met in Primary school, how she'd fight for Jen.
She scribbled down a note as her tears of betrayal fell onto the paper,

"I'm sorry Sera..."
