Chin-Hae placed the soccer ball at the centre circle of the field. He gathered his intentions and commenced his practice routine. With a push of his toe, he started to dribble the ball to the end and back again. First with the right side, then left, then right length of the foot, then left again.
Bose's voice reverberated in his head. 'Excellence is not an act, excellence is a habit. Practice will help you rewire the neural network on a daily basis. Repetition of actions creates stronger connections in the brain, the stronger the connection the more effortless the task.'
Jee-Hee Han looked out of her room and saw the lone silhouette of Chin-Hae dribbling up and down the field. Her chin propped on her wrist, her black glittering eyes following his every move. A drizzle gave way to a sudden cloudburst but in the flooding field, Chin-Hae continued to reinforce his moves with adeptness. He practiced till fatigue took over. His only distraction was: perfecting the skill.
If determination had a name, thought Jee-Hee Han, Chin-Hae would be it.
