Bose sat in Principal Cheyo's office stirring cream into his coffee in the pattern of the infinity symbol.

"Who is the shining star of the faction?" asked Principal Cheyo.

"Raë."

"Is she the motherboard?"

"Yes, and soon Yinka will follow."

"Can there be two motherboards?"

"Living things are givers and receivers of light. Anyone can play the role of a motherboard, anyone can harness light and become capacitators. As the faction fluctuate up and down the spectrum, they will take turns, sometimes needing a stimulus sometimes becoming the ones providing it ."

"And who is the jagged line?" asked Principal Cheyo.

Bose reclined into his seat. "At present Æsh is more daemon than god."

"In spite of Phi's stimulus?"

"Sometimes the energy of habitually low-frequency stabilizers gets spun in the opposite direction, much like propeller torque. Æsh is on the verge of the plunge, his vibration is de-escalating, his needle is fluctuating low on the spectrum. Æsh is entering a cycle of entropy."

"What can we do about it?"

"If this faction is to survive, Æsh has to stay alive."

"Can we get a glimpse into his future? Find out what has been projected?"

"It has been said that Æsh is the swing to Raë's pendulum. Each the fulcrum to the other's potential. These two fluctuating vibrations will continually stream in and out of each's consciousness. Their oscillations are sharp, dropping from one extreme of the spectrum to the other. But no matter how far apart, they will find each other; pull each other out of their constructs of hell."

"Will Æsh attempt to kill himself again?"

"The longer he remains in entropy, the stronger his suicidal tendencies."

"And she will save him?"

"Yes, it has been forecast. But let's not forget we are agents of free will. With the kind of single-mindedness Raë has, she can rewrite even what is written."

The shrill ring of the phone broke into their conversation.

Principal Cheyo leaned forward to pick up the receiver. "Yes, Rosa put me through. Yes, speaking ..." his eyes widened as he took in the information. "When did this happen ... today?" he asked. "Yes, I will. Immediately," he said in a panicked tone. Principal Cheyo put the receiver down. His face ashen and distressed.

"What's the matter, James?"

"There is a man-eater on the loose, the forests are no longer safe."

Principal Cheyo dialled his secretary. "Rosa, please call for an emergency assembly. Right away."

The determined ring of the school bell echoed. "Join me at the assembly, will you, Bose?" he said, rushing out.

The students started piling into the Quad, wondering why assembling was called in the middle of the day. A second bell rang. The students serried in, waiting for the announcement.

"I have some unfortunate news regarding Velu Sankaran, the head gardener who has been with our school for the past thirty-nine years. This morning his son was tragically killed by a tiger that has wandered into our forests from the southern plains. As we speak, the authorities from the Forest Department are in search of this man-eating tiger. The site of death is the lake at the reserve. Until the tiger has been captured, forest rangers will be stationed at all properties touching the forestland. Students are prohibited from wandering into the forest areas for recreational purposes or otherwise," Principal Cheyo paused. "There will be strict repercussions if these rules are broken."
