Chapter Three

Walking in the halls of a new school isn't really the same as walking through the old ones. When you're new, you're worried about what will happen and what people think of you. You never know if people are talking about you, or even noticing you.

When it was second period break, I had to find somewhere to spend it. The only problem is, you don't want to look like you have no friends, because that makes you seem vulnerable or awkward.

The only thing that I did was walk around the campus and pretend to be headed somewhere. I went around the outside school and into the inside. Looks like there was a perk to having a large new school.

Here I sat in fourth period, which was science. I took a seat next to another girl, who told me her name was Jen. She didn't look to snooty, and she wore a blue long sleeved shirt and jeans with sandals. She had brunette hair, which was wavy curled.

"Are you new to this school, or class?" She asked me as the students started to pour in. I wondered if I'd taken anyone's seat, but decided against it since the girl hasn't told me to move.

"Technically both." I laughed, trying to be calm. She giggled also, and went on to talk some more.

"Well you can eat lunch with me if you want." She offered and I lit up in surprise. She shrugged it off with a smile. "Sorry, I probably seem to eager, but there are my reasons. The only way your gonna' survive in this school is if you get friends to have your back."

I watched as she glared at another table, where a girl and a guy sat, making it obvious that they're boyfriend and girlfriend. "Thanks for helping me on my first day. This school is a bit overwhelming."

She nodded her head and agreed. "Those are the ones you need to watch out for. Kacey and Ivan, the two main bullies of the school. Mostly Kacey, because Ivan's a little dumb."

Ivan had his arm drooped around the girl, and she was staring at him seductively. It made me want to look away.

I took another glance at them, and saw that they were already looking my way. Kacey sneered at me, and shouted, "What the hell are you looking at?" Ivan took his arm from around her, and she crossed her arms.

"Something really gross." I shot back, and kept a sarcastic smile towards her. I regretted it when she began to try to get up, but the teacher came inside before she could reach me. Her eyes told me that she would be getting me back for my comment.

Jen shook my arm, with a shocked look on her face. "Do you know what you've done? She's going to ruin you now!" She started to whisper when the teacher spoke. "I'm sorry, but your on your own now. I can't risk my and friends and I for you."

She looked at me sadly, and turned to listen to the teacher. I was a bit disappointed and angry that I said it, but it made me realize that Jen wasn't a true friend.

At lunch, I entered the cafeteria to look for a place to sit. It seemed impossible when I saw how many people were sat inside. It didn't matter anyways, because that's the moment when Kacey approached me with some others.

"Here's the loser, girls. Do what you want with her." She ordered, and walked off leaving me with two other girls.

They were both very tall, and strong. They were still very skinny, but I figured they were on a sports team because they wore matching jerseys.

"Um, hi I-" Was all I said, as they took me, both each had one arm, and stomped me out of the lunch room. I struggled to get free, but they were too strong. The last thing I saw was a table with Jen looking at me, apologetic. I knew she wouldn't help me though, no one ever does.
