"We have a case, 3 bodies found off a highway, local PD requested help in identifying the remains. Pack a case Bones we're heading out to Charming, California."
Temperance Brennan was looking over the case file as Seeley Booth drove the regulation FBI vehicle towards the small town of Charming.
"Looking at the photographs of the victims it appears that the nasal ridges on one of the skulls would indicate a Caucasian male and the other two indicate South American heritage but I would have to examine the bones myself to confirm."
"Yeah OK, give it an hour and you will have the bones Bones" Seeley said chuckling at his own words leading to Temperance to roll her eyes at his childishness.
In Charming
Jax Teller had spotted the police loading 2 bodies into a transport van and mumbled "shit" under his breath before turning his bike round and speeding off to the clubhouse.
He spotted Tig and Clay talking together and walked over to them "PD picked up 2 bodies off 44"
"There should be 3" Clay said. "I'm afraid to ask." Jax said "Don't be" Clay said with a grim look on his face. "Is this us?" Jax asked "Yeah" Clay responded with a sigh. "Oh shit" Jax mumbled.
Clay gave a brief explanation to Jax about what he had seen "Back in '92 Mexicans tried to expand their Oakland dope base, set up a charter in Lodi. We couldn't let it happen. Was a bloody two years"
Jax sighed and told them "We got to stop PD from identifying those bones man."
Tig smirked and said "So we break in and take anything that could be used to identify the damn Mayan assholes, they get that next stop is us."
The 3 men agreed that was their best play and decided they would break in later tonight.
Seeley Booth pulled in a spot outside Charming PD and both he and Bones walked in to meet with the chief.
"FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth and this is my partner Dr Temperance Brennan from the Jeffersonian Institution." he said flashing his badge to the older man in the Chief's office. "Wayne Unser, Chief of Police, can I assume my deputy called you in?" he asked looking past the visitors to glare at the younger man.
"We had a call about 3 bodies, asking for help so here we are." Booth said with an angry glint to his eyes.
Wayne sighed and gestured for them to follow him to the morgue.
When they arrived Booth noticed the break in and demanded Bones stay behind him as he entered with his gun drawn. He followed the sound of whispered voices and using his ranger training stealthily moved to where he could see 3 men all wearing a black leather kutte identifying them as members of the Son of Anarchy. He moved to a position that blocked them escaping before alerting them to his presence "FBI put your hands where I can see them and step away from the bodies."
All three men cursed and did what was asked as Booth walked over and arrested the 3 of them for tampering with a dead body and obstruction of a federal investigation. He smirked as all three shot glares at him and continued over to the chief of police making Booth suspicious that there was much more to this than he first thought.
Once the three men had been transported to police lock-up Booth allowed Brennan access to the bones.
He watched as she pulled on some gloves and began looking over the bones in the meticulous way that she does and took notice of how focused she was.
She began to speak as she was picking up each bone, taking note of any injuries. "As I said in the car victim number one is a Caucasian male, degeneration of the enamel on the rear molars and incisors places age at approximately 40- 45 years. There is significant damage to the phalanges indicating a manual occupation and early indicators on cause of death is visible on the 6th distal rib, micro-fractures with minimal remodelling, possibly a gunshot but will need to swab and have Hodgins run it through the mass spec to confirm."
She then moved to the other two victims "Again as I said in the car these two are of South American heritage, notice the wider nasal ridges, victim number two I am estimating age to be early to mid twenties based on epiphysial fusion and victim number three I am estimating age to be mid to late thirties based on the slight degeneration of the scapula. Victim number two cause of death appears to be a gunshot to the right temporal bone suggesting a mid to close range shot based on the level of fracturing on the bone. The third victim is also a gunshot, this one through the cervical spine, notice the damage to the hyoid, this would indicate and upward trajectory meaning that it is quite likely the external carotid was severed. I have sent photos of the skulls to Angela and asked her to complete facial reconstruction, she will let us know as soon as she has anything"
Booth sighed knowing this was definitely and homicide and asked Bones if she wanted to join him with interrogating the men he had arrested earlier.
