Clay sat down when asked and simply looked at Booth and Brennan. Booth was thinking about what Bones had said about the need to show who was the alpha male when she received a call on her phone. Indicating she was going to step out to take the call he nodded and continued with the staring contest with the older man.
Temperance answered her phone in the usual way "Brennan." and was not surprised to hear the voice of Jack Hodgins. "Hi, I have some results for you." he said sounding hyperactive as usual. Temperance sighed and waited for him to tell her what they had discovered at the lab. "I ran the trace you found through the mass spec and it didn't really give me anything that we don't already know. There was definitely gunshot residue but nothing that can give us type or calibre of gun used. So I took a biopsy of the bone. Cam ran a tox screen whilst I did an isotope analysis. The South American's were born in Mexico, a region called Santa Padre other than that they were clean. The Caucasian however, born and raised in California and had low bone density and demineralisation of the marrow suggesting long term opiate use." Again Brennan sighed. "That confirms what the men we are questioning are saying. Thanks Hodgins." she said before hanging up the phone and heading back into the interrogation.
Booth watched as Brennan re-entered the room and took her seat before looking over at him as if asking to take the lead on questioning the man before them. He figured she knew something so gestured to Clarence telling her to go ahead.
"Clarence, your companions have told me that one of the victims, Lowell Harlan Senior, had a problem with drugs and this is why he disappeared?" She directed a decent level of suspicion at the man, Booth was concerned that he would clam up like the others so was surprised when he didn't. "Yeah Lowell was a good man, had his issues, I was trying to help him when he up and disappeared on us. I had no clue he was dead until just now when you told me." Booth figured he was lying but couldn't prove it and based on how she asked the question Brennan couldn't either. "He was found buried with another 2 men whom my team have confirmed are Mexican, born and raised in Santa Padre." she continued. "God Damn Mayan assholes." Clay mumbled. "Mayan?" Booth asked. Clay chose not to say anything else leading to Booth to smirk. "No worries Clarence, I know all about your tussles with the gang that call themselves Mayan's, seems to me you got a turf war brewing. Would hate to see more bodies drop. You know I would come back for you if that starts to happen. See my partner is damn good at what she does and if I asked her to she could find enough evidence to lock you and your buddies up for a long time, perhaps even a lifetime." Booth told the man, doing more than a little of the alpha male posturing that Brennan had called him out on before.
"I don't know what you are talking about." Clay said with a smirk. "I don't have enough to hold you and the mortuary owner is not pressing charges so you and your buddies are free to go for now but I promise you this. I will be keeping an eye on you and this little town, now get out of here before I do find a reason to hold you." Booth said pissed that there was more to this but they couldn't prove a damn thing.
Jax, Tig and Clay left the police station with a swagger to their walk, they knew this was a close call, too close for their liking but for once they were glad of the Wetback's and the drug trade. It took the attention off them and now all they had to do was stay clean. Clay made a call before they headed back to their clubhouse.
"Juice do me a favour, I want everything you can get on Special Agent Seeley Booth and Doctor Temperance Brennan. I want to know who the hell I am dealing with so next time I have control."
