You race up the steps to the huge, crystal clean building as the rays from a sunny morning reflect off of the large ocean blue windows, and into your eyes. Feeling intimidated by the impression of the building alone, you let out a small shiver of a sigh as you feel your heart pacing intensely. Your heels continue to click as you close your eyes and collect your thoughts before going inside.
As soon as you enter, you look around for a second to take everything in. You can hear subtle tapping from keyboards and high heels as they make contact with the pale marble floor. The blinds are left open, with the sunlight highlighting the faces sat at their desks that face opposite the windows. You release a heavy breath as you prepare for your meeting.
As soon as your eyes catch glance of the elevator, you pick up the pase and sprint over.
As the doors begin to shut, you feel a presence next to you.
"Oh hi, sorry I didn't see you there."
"Oh no, don't worry about it."
The lady brushes it off, as you both laugh timidly. She has a pile of papers and folders tucked loosely under her arm whilst holding two cups of coffee under the lid. You glance at her, realising that you swear that you've seen her face before, but you can't recall why."Do you need any help carrying anything?... You seem to have your hands full." You ask quietly.
"No, no it's alright, I've got it." The woman persists. The doors shift aside and she remains stiff. "Okay, maybe I might need a hand with this."
You both laugh suddenly at the same time, and you take the papers and folders for her. She puts the coffee's down on her desk in a rush and takes her work papers back from you.
Your cheeks blush as her eyes widen with a big heartwarming smile.
"Thank you... Oh I'm soo sorry I forgot, you're new here aren't you, I'm Kara."
Kara greets you with a small smile and a firm handshake.
You smile back being fixated on her eyes that remind you of bright, blue beryls.
"I'm y/n."
"It's nice to meet you, I'll see you around. I've got tons of work to catch up on." She says whilst rolling her eyes. You give her a small smirk -"Y/n?"
You react suddenly as a stern voice approaches from behind you.
"You're a minute early, but I just wanted to discuss with you ideas for your article."
"Yes, of course." Andrea looks at you expressionless "follow me."
She takes you to a wide tv screen that fills up a large portion of the wall.
You recognise Andrea's office from your job interview. However, that's was in later hours and was pretty much empty, besides one or two people who were working overtime. It was cold, bitter and dark out. Strong winds pushed a breeze against your legs as they went numb. She was your sister's best friend, and that's how you got here in the first place. Andrea knew you were a reporter and was moving to National city. As soon as you parked the car and slammed the car door to go to the building, you felt a pinch in your gut... An instinct to turn back, but, at that point, you couldn't. She wasn't the most inviting, but besides sharp looks of judgement after every question... It went well.
Andrea shows me what's on the screen. She stares passive aggressively with one eyebrow raised as Supergirl's grin appears, followed by the headline scrolling underneath: "Supergirl saves lives amoungst National city again."
